The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) team is seeking a Mid-Level Composite Manufacturing Planner to join our team in Tukwila, WA.

The primary focus of this position in support of the Enterprise Development Center efforts located in Tukwila, WA. The Enterprise Development Center is part of Engineering & Technology Innovation (E&TI) with BT&E manufacturing support developing new composites, processes, and testing for future programs.  The selected candidate will be responsible for fabrication and assembly planning by providing design review, manufacturing plan authorship, fabrication sourcing, interface with procurement, and support in the fabrication shop during manufacturing.  These efforts represent a wide variety of research and production programs primary in support of Boeing Commercial airplanes (BCA) and Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) programs.

Manufacturing Engineers are owners of the build plan and ensure compliance to design configuration and process requirements, Manufacturing Engineering performs Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) analysis and develops an integrated build plan consisting of work instructions for assembly/fabrication, kitting, tooling, inspection requirements, and other outputs to endure fabrication meets design, test, and program requirements.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes, plans, and tooling methodologies for composite aircraft parts and assemblies

  • Investigate and resolve technical problems related to composite manufacturing processes

  • Develop manufacturing work instructions for composites fabrication, inspection, trimming, and assembly

  • Implement procedures for rework and repair of composite structures

  • Develop and implementation of production and tooling methodologies

  • Participate as a member of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) in the integration of technical solutions

  • Implement manufacturing plans

  • Resolve technical problems and assists in the implementation of new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies and concepts

  • Assist in the implementation of Lean principles and technologies

  • Resolve technical issues that significantly impact performance, cost, or schedule

  • Communicate effectively with internal customers and stakeholders to align product development and manufacturing goals

  • Perform producibility and variation analyses to ensure that manufacturing process capabilities meet requirements

  • Maintain a focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction throughout all manufacturing processes

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

  • 5+ years of experience with Engineering within a production or manufacturing environment

  • 3+ years of experience with composites materials and processes

  • 3+ years of experience managing projects

  • 5+ years of experience working in design engineering, industrial engineering or manufacturing role

  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering Planning systems such as Product Data Manager (PDM), Common Manufacturing Execution System (CMES) and Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years of experience working in a lab test, flight test, or similar test environment

  • 5+ years of experience with drawing, reading and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience in support of commercial and military customers.

  • Experience in project management

  • Experience with MESci, EPARTs, IRCS, and GOLDesp

  • Experience in ME and processes across multiple engineering disciplines

  • Boeing BCA/BDS/BT&E/BR&T Manufacturing Engineering experience

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: $79,200 - $105,800
