Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Modification Mechanic F&H B to join our team in Tukwila, WA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Determine work assignment based on schedule or direction from supervisor. Review paperwork and drawings to determine work to be accomplished
  • Assist in locating work area using drawings, IP (Installation Plan), OSIP (Out of Sequence Installation Plan), NCO (Non-Conformance Order), or other paperwork that specifies airplane number, section number, and three-point location
  • Obtain and verify pre-picked detail parts (kits), standards, and assemblies were issued correctly by comparing part numbers and quantities to W/O, IP, and/or BOM (Bill of Material) on drawing(s). Ensure that parts issued are effective for the airplane and are free of visible defects
  • Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g., tiger and snorkel lifts), as required, to locate parts/assemblies into position or to perform assembly work
  • Use precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometer, calipers) to measure dimensions per drawing, sketches, and engineer requirements
  • Incorporate changes to aircraft to reconfigure to customer requirements. Install or rework interior and/or exterior components to engineering specifications
  • Check own work as well as others as requested after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure it is complete per drawing, that there are no defects and that area around job is clean, prior to putting up for inspection
  • Submit completed job or in-process checks, as required, to inspector at appropriate steps in sequence. Perform rework as required (e.g., pick-ups, special repairs)
  • Consult with management and/or others (e.g., engineering, planning, inspection, or customer) on process/schedules or job-related issues as required
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner (e.g., lubricants, primer)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience as a machinist, mechanic, or other mechanical aptitudes
  • 1+ years of experience in mechanical troubleshooting, disassembly, and repair
  • Experience reading and interpreting system prints and schematics

Additional Information:

  • This is a union-represented position
  • This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinist (IAM 751) Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • New Hires, as well as employees who transfer from non-union positions, may be required to attend some type of training upon their start. Once any required training has been completed all new employees will be considered on probation for a period of sixty (60) calendar days. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the probationary period.

Shift:

  • This role will be on the 1st shift

Summary pay range: $27.00 - $52.78/hour

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
