Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for Special Projects Mechanic B to join our team in Tukwila, WA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Determine distribution of and assign work to assembly team based on production requirements (e.g., bar chart, flow chart, tie-in, Installation Plan (IP), Work Order (W/O)), or check with program lead.

  • Maintain personal and tool certifications, as required.

  • Initiate planning, engineering, or tooling changes. Use appropriate forms and/or computer on line system, as required.

  • Obtain and verify (prepicked) detail parts, drawings, standards, and assemblies were issued correctly by comparing part numbers and quantities to W/O, IP and/or Bill of Material (BOM), on drawings. Ensure that parts issued are effective for the job, and are free of visible defects.

  • Perform layout work and make shop aids to assist in fitting parts into airframes and assemble special projects.

  • Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g., scissor and snorkel lifts), to locate parts/assemblies into position or to perform assembly work, as required.

  • Move parts and/or assemblies using overhead cranes, stackers and pallet jacks, as required.

  • Clean work area and assemblies to ensure that all Foreign Object Debris (FOD) has been removed, as required.

  • Sell completed job or in-process checks per drawing, BAC Specification, PSD, as required to inspector at appropriate steps in sequence, using an electronic call sheet. Perform minor rework as required (e.g., pick-ups, (NCO) Non-Conformance Order).

  • Assist higher/lower graded employees in performing functional tests on systems (e.g., hydraulic, ordnance, pneumatic), using proper test equipment, as required.

  • Consult with management and/or others (e.g., engineering, planning, inspection) on process or job-related issues as required.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Security Clearance & Export Control Requirements:

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Minimum one year of experience working with powered hand tools.

  • Minimum one year of experience working with detailed work instructions or reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Minimum one year of experience as a machinist, mechanic, or other mechanical aptitudes.

  • Minimum one year of hands-on experience working with overhead cranes.

  • Minimum one year of experience working with hazardous material.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Shift:

This position is for 1st shift.

Additional Information:

This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinist (IAM-751) Collective Bargaining agreement.


Contractual Pay Range: $25.50/hr. - $44.08/hr.
