Structural Analysis Engineer (Mid-Level and Lead)

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a broad range of levels to include Mid-Level (Level 3) Structural Analysis Engineers to join the Structures Engineering team located in Tukwila, Washington.

A successful member of this team will understand and execute structural analysis of military or commercial aircraft programs.

Position Responsibilities (Level 3):

  • Develops, integrates, and documents structural requirements to validate Airframe Stress design and Finite Element Modelling and Load case assessment
  • Verifies structural integrity by defining requirements for development of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools to develop the airframe structural environment, characteristics, and performance of the product
  • Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment
  • Guides product design and verify structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance
  • Understands industry best practices in airframe primary structure and load paths
  • Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied
  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements
  • Works under general direction
  • Works with customers and regulatory agencies to define and maintain certification processes that will ensure requirements are met
  • Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the analysis and repair efforts
  • Oversees compliance with methodology and processes for stress analysis and finite element modelling
  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop future product designs to meet projected requirements
  • Works under consultative direction
  • Understands the unique challenges of working a Legacy program that was originally certified using 2D drawings, in contrast to a new development program which is purely Model Based
  • Understands commercial derivative military aircraft structural analysis methods

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Tukwila, Washington.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start may be required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience) :

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 3 or more years of experience in aircraft fleet support engineering or related product sustainment engineering, sizing, designing and developing complex structural repairs
  • 5 or more years leading projects
  • Experience with Finite Element Models (FEM)
  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) :

  • 5 or more years’ experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques)
  • Experience with Hypermesh, Abaqus CAE, and/or Nastran
  • Experience validating or verifying finite element model results
  • Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques)
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, tasks and people in a dynamic environment
  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance
  • Experience with Aircraft Primary Structures on military high performance aircraft - Commercial and/or Military applications (737, 747, 757, 767 & 777)
  • Experience in aircraft fleet support engineering or related product sustainment engineering, sizing, designing and developing structural repairs

Relocation:

Summary Pay Range: $102,000 - 138,000
