The opportunity

Join Boeing Defence Australia as a Tool Crib Technician at our new production facility at Wellcamp Airport, Toowoomba. This role requires strong tool making skills, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of inventory management and production processes. The Tool Crib Technician will ensure that all tools are maintained to the highest standards, meet regulatory requirements, and support efficient and safe production operations whilst minimizing disruptions to the production lines. Reporting to the Tooling Maintenance Lead, this individual will be a trusted self-starter that can operate autonomously in a matrix environment.

The highest level of personal and professional conduct and adherence to Boeing Behavioral standards are required at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining our Tooling management strategies and procedures to optimize production operations and ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Oversee and carry out the maintenance and repair of tooling across the facility
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, such as Production Leads and engineering teams, to identify facility needs and implement necessary changes or upgrades for Tooling.
  • Manage receipting, inspections, storage and inventory management for  all tooling and consumables.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with the safety and compliance teams to ensure adherence to all relevant aviation regulations, industry standards, and company policies.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Fitter & Machinist/Toolmaker (5+ years experience)
  • 3+ years' experience in an aviation, manufacturing or maintenance environment.
  • Strong general maintenance knowledge for tooling and understanding of preventative maintenance and asset management strategies
  • Experience working in a large matrix organization
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing production processes, regulations, and safety standards
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience dealing with key stakeholders and translating operational requirements into actionable deliverables
  • Previous work with stock replenishment and Kanban systems.
  • Proficient with Inventory management systems
  • Experience with tool control systems, kitting and calibration programs
