The Opportunity

Ready to be part of something bold? Join Boeing Defence Australia at our brand-new Wellcamp facility and become the hands-on hero who keeps our production humming.

We're after a proactive, practical Tooling Technician who's hungry to learn, loves solving problems, and takes pride in precision — someone who can grow with us as we build the next generation of aerospace capability.

Why this role will excite up

  • Work in a cutting-edge aerospace environment where every tool you manage powers real Defence capability.
  • Immediate impact: your maintenance, kitting and inventory skills keep aircraft builds on time and on target.
  • Fast learning, visible results — you'll collaborate with engineers and production leads and see the difference you make every day.
  • A career-launching role: grow into advanced tooling, calibration, and asset-management responsibilities.

What you'll do as a Tooling Technician:

  • Maintain, repair and prepare tooling used across the production floor — from basic servicing to supporting preventive maintenance programs.
  • Receive, inspect and manage tooling and consumables: storage, kitting, labelling and inventory accuracy.
  • Support tool control systems, Kanban replenishment and simple calibration routines.
  • Run regular safety checks and help close out corrective actions to keep the workplace safe and compliant.
  • Work with Production and Engineering to fix issues fast and suggest practical improvements.
  • Follow aviation regulations, industry standards and Boeing behavioural expectations at all times.

Who we're looking for

  • Trade-qualified or apprenticeship-complete in Fitting & Machining, Toolmaking or equivalent — or 2+ years practical experience in a manufacturing/maintenance environment.
  • 1-3 years' exposure to aviation, manufacturing or heavy maintenance environments desirable.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, hand skills and experience with basic tooling maintenance.
  • Familiarity with stock replenishment or Kanban systems is a plus; willingness to learn inventory management systems.
  • Good communicator, team player and a practical problem-solver who takes initiative.
  • Motivated self-starter comfortable working in a matrix organisation and escalating issues when needed.

Boeing values you'll bring to life

  • Safety — You put people and the workplace first.
  • Quality — You care about precision, repeatability and doing the job right.
  • Integrity — You're honest, accountable and dependable.
  • Innovation — You look for better ways to work and welcome continuous improvement.
  • Inclusion — You collaborate respectfully and value different perspectives.

Security requirement

  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.

Location

  • Wellcamp, Toowoomba, QLD.

Befefits & growth

  • Train on the job with experienced technicians and engineers.
  • Hands-on experience in aerospace tooling, calibration and inventory systems.
  • Clear pathways to more senior tooling, calibration or maintenance roles as you grow.

Ready to launch? If you're ready to get stuck in, learn fast and be a vital part of a team building something important — we want to hear from you. Apply now with your resume and a cover letter outlining your experience.
