This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit (“Spirit Defense”). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Through innovative engineering and rapid prototyping excellence, Spirit Defense provides the capabilities, technologies and support customers need to succeed in their missions.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Defines improvement projects aligned with business strategies using Just-In-Time/ Lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Facilitates projects and subsystems of Lean activities frominception through completion and acts as primary customer contact tomeet project objectives
  • Catalyst for initiating change activities andcoaches for sustaining momentum. 
  • Develop and implement Leanimprovement plans and schedules, ensuring accuracy and timelycompletion, conducting reviews and overseeing improvement activities(i.e.6S, kitting, and Mechanic Verification) 
  • Disciplines are relatedto project management, communication, training, program governance and problem-solving skills
  • Facilitate/coach projects of continuous improvement activities from inception through completion, working closely with Level 3 and Level 4 CI specialists
  • Disciplines are related to Operations, project management, communication, training, program governance and problem-solving skills
  • Performs work undergeneral supervision
  • Identify process waste and develop opportunities to eliminate the waste
  • Prioritize CI initiatives utilizing simple logic (ease of implementation vs benefit)
  • Develop & project manage CI plans and schedules
  • Understand interdependencies of a system
  • Ability to influence leaders and educate them on CI principles to gain buy-in on improvements
  • Ability to network and build relationships
  • Ability to access to data/information needed
  • Integrate with operations and the support teams regularly

Requirements:

  • Project management
  • 3 years minimum experience in the area of  Manufacturing Continuous Improvement
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Candidates must be able to obtain and maintaina DOD security clearance
  • Successful candidates must be able to secure Program access approval

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Operations experience either working with or in a shop environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an IE, ME, Project management or related study and 3+ years related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Automotive experience with Toyota Production System
  • Prior experience communicating with shop and management level employees
  • Lean Coach Certification or equivalent belt level in Six Sigma
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic to intermediate user of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams)
  • Existing DOD secret or top-secret security clearance prior to acceptance of position
  • Existing Prime customer clearance

Union:

This is a union-represented position.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range: $64,300 - $98,650
