This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit (“Spirit Defense”). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Through innovative engineering and rapid prototyping excellence, Spirit Defense provides the capabilities, technologies and support customers need to succeed in their missions.

Location: Wichita, KS (On-site)

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the Capture Manager by managing and directing proposal preparation tasks 
  • Sets and manages proposal schedules, plans, deadlines, and monitors proposal team’s progress
  • Transform capture strategy into aligned proposal strategies and themes
  • Builds the proposal compliance matrix and tracks fulfillment of all requirements
  • Support proposal efforts by coordinating with Engineering, Supply Chain/Subcontracts, Contracts, Scheduling, and Finance to define scope, schedule, cost, and risk
  • Support developing/compiling accurate BOEs, BOMs, vendor data, and other proposal artifacts.
  • Analyzes the solicitation document, and ensure proposals are compliant with all proposal instructions 
  • Support, participate, and respond to reviews ensuring accuracy, consistency, responsivenessand compliance of the proposal with solicitation requirements
  • Develop the initial story boards in preparation for dissemination to writers for completion
  • Review writer’s section drafts and graphics to ensure requirements are adequately addressed within page allocations
  • Conduct regular proposal progress status meetings and maintain the proposal schedule
  • Develop plans for the interim reviews and internal evaluation of the technical, management, cost, and past performance volumes and any additional required submittals
  • Direct writing, editing, and rewriting efforts to achieve a persuasive, customer-focused, clear, and concise proposal
  • Assess Final Proposal Review recommendations with the core capture team and incorporate approved recommendations into the final proposal
  • Complete reasonable and normal duties associated with the Proposal Manager position, as directed by the Capture Manager, or Senior Manager and/or Senior Director

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of related proposals or technical writing experience in the government contracts and/or government proposals space
  • Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance 
  • Successful candidates must be able to secure Program access approval 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience utilizing the BIDS tools and processes
  • Detail-oriented with excellent business acumen skills
  • Ability to coordinate with other support disciplines or core functions as required

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary Pay Range: $73,150 - $112,200

Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
