This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

The Business Manager – Quality Operations provides strategic and operational support to the Quality organization in Wichita. This role serves as a key business partner to Quality leadership, enabling workforce planning, financial management, performance visibility, and execution discipline to achieve program and production objectives.

The position is responsible for Quality staffing forecasts, headcount planning, personnel budget oversight, financial analysis, and performance metric development. By integrating financial and operational data, the Business Manager ensures leadership has clear visibility into business performance and the insights necessary to drive informed decision-making.

This role operates at a high level of cross-functional engagement, ensuring alignment across programs, customers, and enterprise stakeholders while maintaining strong governance and financial controls.

Position Responsibilities:

Quality Business Partnership

  • Serve as primary business partner to the Quality organization, providing financial, operational, and strategic support.
  • Enable data-driven decision-making through financial analysis, workforce modeling, and KPI tracking.
  • Support leadership in achieving customer, program, and production commitments.

Workforce & Resource Planning

  • Lead Quality workforce forecasting and headcount planning activities.
  • Plan, commit, and control deployment of resources in response to customer, program, and business requirements.
  • Ensure personnel budgets align with operational and production needs.
  • Integrate with O&R and EAC processes to ensure accurate forecasting and financial execution.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Interpret financial and managerial accounting data to assess business performance.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses to support staffing, investment, and operational decisions.
  • Develop and maintain visibility to Production KPIs and Quality performance metrics.
  • Monitor business results to ensure alignment with budget, forecasts, and operational targets.
  • Review and approve cost center expenditures in compliance with financial controls.

Program & Process Governance

  • Direct development, integration, and implementation of new or revised programs, plans, and processes.
  • Authorize changes to work statements through formal directive systems.
  • Develop and maintain control systems to monitor program and customer commitments.
  • Oversee HPU improvement initiatives and ensure timely execution of projects.
  • Monitor compliance requirements including SLS, read-and-sign processes, and business directives.

Executive & Leadership Support

  • Maintain operational cadence (OPS) and ensure leadership alignment.
  • Prepare Vice President-level briefings and executive presentations.
  • Validate business data to ensure accuracy and integrity in reporting.
  • Track and monitor action items across the quality leadership team.
  • Conduct meetings requiring subject matter expertise and business acumen.
  • Execute ad hoc analytics and special projects in support of leadership priorities.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Experience in business operations, financial planning & analysis, workforce planning, or program management.
  • Experience interpreting financial statements and managerial accounting data.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership within a complex, cross-functional environment.
  • Microsoft Office, with an emphasis in Excel

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience supporting Quality or Manufacturing organizations.
  • Knowledge of aerospace production environments.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing executive-level presentations.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional integration efforts.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary Pay Range: $98,150 - $150,500
