This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated professional to join The Boeing Company in the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team within the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) division. This role is critical in ensuring the health and safety of our workforce while promoting environmental stewardship at the Boeing Wichita Site. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing industrial hygiene programs that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, fostering a culture of safety and sustainability.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conducts monitoring, surveys and inspections to identify potential health risks in the workplace.
  • Analyzes and interprets results of an assessment to develop plans for improved work conditions.
  • Reviews operational procedures to identify processes which are detrimental to health
  • Carries out investigations to evaluate adequacy of ventilation, lighting and other conditions required for employee safety.
  • Maintains and calibrates various sampling and monitoring equipment to ensure proper function.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws on health and safety.
  • Prepares reports and maintains records of observations, contaminant analysis and recommended control.
  • Interfaces with Company organizations and external suppliers to provide technical information, training, and to help ensure management of safe and reliable processes.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental science, chemistry, biology or related disciplines or equivalent subject matter knowledge skills and abilities acquired through work.
  • 5+ years of experience working in Industrial Hygiene performing monitoring, surveying and inspections of health hazard risks.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist, Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, or other professional certification.
  • Applied knowledge in the industrial hygiene disciplines including noise, lighting, hexavalent chromium, ventilation, and chemical processing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Essential Duties and Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk/stand frequently per shift
  • Ability to climb limited per shift
  • Ability to sit frequently per shift
  • Ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 35 lbs.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary Pay Range - Mid-Level (Level 3): $79,850 - $122,400
