This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

Facilities Welder includes:

  1. Perform work in an efficient manner as assigned. Train in new methods and advanced technologies as determined necessary and provided by the company. 
  2. Have the ability to independently make decisions in regards as to how to complete assignments. 
  3. Enter and retrieve data from the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and/or Process Plants Data, order and requisition parts required to accomplish the assigned tasks and input data as directed by a higher grade employee or manager except as relates to inventory, store, record, issue and any other duties related to material support technician. 
  4. Weld, Braze, cut, fit and work with a broad spectrum of metals for the maintenance and construction of plant facilities and equipment. Weld in all positions and have a minimum knowledge and proficiency to work in several processes of welding including, but not limited to TIG/MIG/SMAW. Have minimum knowledge of methods of identifying unknown metals and the proper processes of working with them. Have a minimum knowledge of shapes, weights and sizes of materials and how to use them. Have a minimum knowledge of layout and design of structures, architectural and mechanical. 
  5. Successfully pass and maintain weld certifications. 
  6. Perform basic shop math and pass yearly eye exam. 
  7. Perform routine minor machine maintenance daily on your machine
  8. Work with rolling stock and have the ability to be mechanical 

Required:

  • Must be willing and able to work 2nd shift.
  • Must complete a welding test before hire.
  • All Candidates must pass the WorkKeys Assessment (workkeys.com) or provide verification that they have passed the WorkKeys Assessment. Delay in completing your WorkKeys Assessment will result in a delay in your start date. You may complete your assessment in advance of an interview.
    • IMPORTANT WorkKeys note: Any person scheduling their WorkKeys Assessment will be required to present two (2) forms of identification to be verified before their scheduled date for the WorkKeys assessment.   • This is a union-represented position.

Preferred: 

  • 2+ years of experience.
  • experience with infrastructure repair
  • experience with facilities maintenance
  • Mechanical trailer repair
  • MIG, TIG and STIK experience

Union:

This is a union-represented position.

Pay:  $25.09/hour, with potential to earn up to $43.13/hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
