Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is seeking a Technical Publications Verification Engineer to support our rotary wing platforms.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and compliance of technical publications including the wider Air System Document Set (ADS) related to our aerospace products. This role involves collaborating with the UK MoD engineering authority, BDUK engineering teams including technical authors, and quality assurance personnel to verify that all technical documentation meets industry standards, regulatory requirements and Customer expectations. This position will execute against contract requirements with a Safety and First Time Quality mind-set working within an integrated team environment.

BDUK, a subsidiary of The Boeing Company, employs over 2,000 people in the UK and delivers cutting-edge capabilities to UK defence customers. Key programmes include E-7 AEW&C, P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Chinook and Apache fleet support, Autonomous Systems, and C4ISR services.

In this role, you will:

Reviewing Technical Documentation:

  • Undertake independent pre-release reviews to verify ADS updates, covering technical publication manuals, annotations, and maintenance instructions, for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review and deliver publication change logs to the UK MoD Authority.

Ensuring Compliance:

  • Ensure that all documentation adheres to company standards and regulatory requirements.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with engineering teams to understand product specifications and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical writers to provide guidance on technical content and ensure clarity in documentation.

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct thorough quality checks on technical publications to identify errors, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Implement and maintain verification processes to enhance the quality of technical documentation.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay updated on industry regulations and standards related to technical publications.
  • Ensure that all documentation complies with MAA, EASA, and other relevant regulatory bodies

Feedback and Improvement:

  • Highlighting errors and inconsistencies in review of the ADS and raising appropriate MOD Form 765 action as required.
  • Provide constructive feedback to technical writers and engineers to improve the quality of technical publications.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance documentation processes

Training and Support:

  • Assist in training technical authors and other team members on best practices for technical documentation.
  • Support the development of tools and templates to improve the ADS review process

The preferred candidate will have most of the following, with some considered essential:

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Eligibility for UK SC Security Clearance: Applicants must be able to obtain the necessary clearance.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in Technical Publications: Extensive knowledge and hands-on application experience in compiling and amending aircraft technical publications. Experience and knowledge of aircraft Topic 5 series ADS.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to act as an Technical Publication SME, including teaching, mentoring, and developing junior engineers.
  • Maintenance and Engineering Expertise: Strong professional background in aerospace maintenance and engineering, with proven experience in practical application.

Desirable Skills qualification and experience

  • Defence Industry Familiarity (Preferred): Experience in a defence-related environment is advantageous but not essential.
  • Commitment to Quality: Proven track record of driving first-time quality in engineering outputs.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Word, and Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
  • Educational Qualifications: Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline and/or formally trained in support engineering principles.
  • Previous experience liaising with internationally located Teams, including Design Organization (DO) interface.
  • Preferred but not essential, rotary wing publications authoring experience.


This role is on-site position with flexible working hours.

Relocation:

This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
