Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Chief Software/Firmware Integration Engineer (Lead or Principal) with experience architecture development, software and firmware testing, and developing software-hardware integration plans for a new program in Albuquerque, NM.

The new program is responsible for designing and testing advanced concepts for the US Government. This position will be responsible for requirements definition, architecture development integration and test, V&V of requirements, and system support throughout the product lifecycle. The person chosen for this position will serve as a Chief Engineer and/or team lead for a team of multi-disciplined engineers supporting hardware/software/embedded systems architecting, design, integration and test.  This position will work closely with the Program Chief Engineer to ensure the seamless integration of the overall system.

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including lead or principal level engineers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work in a team environment to develop overall hardware, firmware and software architectures for large complex systems

  • Work in a team to develop requirements for software and firmware systems

  • Support firmware and software design and development projects in SME capacity

  • Support Integration and synthesize firmware and software systems

  • Develop and maintain software code. Integrate software into a fully functional software system

  • Troubleshoot basic firmware and software issues

  • Work in a team to develop verification and validation plans to ensure embedded requirements are met

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years of experience programming in software engineering

  • Experience with software design processes and software development methodology

  • Working knowledge and/or experience in software architecture and software development

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 12+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+ years of experience working with FPGA embedded systems

  • Experience in embedded software development

  • Hardware integration and software Integration experience

  • Experience using programming languages (VHDL, C++, Java, MATLAB)

  • Experience developing code for sensor acquisition and sensor processing

  • Experience with electro-optical systems (EO systems, electro optics)

  • Prior experience in Project Management

  • Experience with Earned Value Management

Summary pay range Lead (level 5):  $143,650 – 194,350

Summary pay range Principal (level 6): $170,000 – $230,000
