Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Brazing Oven Operator to join our Fabrication team in Algona, Washington.

As a Brazing Oven Operator, you will be integral to our manufacturing process, responsible for the precise operation of ovens and related equipment to perform brazing on various metal components. Your expertise will involve preparing and assembling parts, ensuring they are properly fitted and positioned for optimal results. You will utilize technical documents and engineering drawings to guide your work while also monitoring and maintaining equipment to meet stringent quality standards. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will be essential in delivering high-quality products that meet our operational goals.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Start, operate, and regulate ovens, generators, and auxiliary equipment to perform satisfactory production of brazing materials. 

  • Follow blueprints, sketches, and specifications. 

  • Properly prepare, fit, form, assemble, and position various parts in assemblies for brazing. 

  • Operate ovens to draw, anneal, and harden various metals as required. 

  • Prepare surfaces of tools through sandblasting. 

  • Use necessary measuring devices, hand tools, and power tools to perform brazing duties. 

  • Evaluate work to be performed by reviewing work orders and incoming racks for tubes to be brazed. 

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to identify production parts and specifications used in the brazing process. 

  • Operate and set controls to ovens at least 30 minutes prior to starting runs to ensure proper preheating of production parts. 

  • Use math to calculate mix ratios for chemicals used in the brazing process as required. 

  • Monitor and process production parts after the brazing process to ensure compliance with BAC 5765 Sec. 10.1. 

  • Verify certifications of tools, test equipment, and personnel to ensure they are current. 

  • Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved manner, ensuring compliance with safety standards. 

    Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

    • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

    • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

    • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

    • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

    • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

    • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

    Basic Qualifications:

    • 1+ years of experience using hand tools and/or hand-held power tools

    • 1+ years of experience in working with metal at high temperature

    • Experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications

    • Experience using basic math (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)

    • Capable of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 35 pounds

    • Physical ability to stand for duration of a shift; able to lift, carry, move and manipulate a large volume and variety of parts

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 1+ years of experience operating overhead cranes in a safe manner

    Typical Education & Experience:

    High school graduate or GED preferred.
