The BDS Business Development & Strategy (BD&S) Customer Engagement function is responsible for creating and executing world-class customer experiences and events that elevate Boeing as a global market leader.

BDS is seeking a Customer Engagement Manager to join the Business Development & Strategy Customer Engagement team located within BDS headquarters in Arlington, VA.

As a leader within the Customer Engagement team, you will provide management, guidance and support in strategic event planning and marketing support to various BDS programs, both domestic and international. 

The position is based in Arlington, VA, reporting to the senior manager of Customer Engagement for Boeing Defense, Space, and Security.

As a Customer Engagement Manager, you will supervise up to six direct reports located throughout the BDS Eastern region (Arlington VA, Huntsville AL, and Titusville FL).

Key attributes for this position include demonstrated leadership skills, the ability to lead a geographically dispered team, and the capability to confidently brief senior customers and executives.  Proficiency in event project management, marketing, communications and team building skills are also essential to this role. Additionally, other important skills and competencies include business aucumen, adaptability, attention to detail, decisiveness, forward thinking and a positive approach towards change and innovation. The role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and budget targets for events, and foster effective working relationships and customer partnerships.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads a geographically dispersed team of strategic and engaged event planners responsible for managing and executing senior customer and executive events.
  • Cultivates a positive and inclusive team culture, encourages creative thinking and prioritizes the growth and development of each team member.  Provides clear performance expectations and actionable feedback
  • Oversees the management and assignment of events.  Anticipates requirements and makes recommendations (e.g., date, geographic location, venue, participants/products and budget).  Manages the team’s workload effectively.
  • Coordinates and communicates effectively with C-suite executives and business partners to ensure strategic alignment between Customer Engagement and the goals and objectives of the business/program/site.
  • Plans and coordinates multiple complex customer visits and events, as well as product demonstrations and evaluations, leveraging extensive knowledge of U.S. and foreign government regulations, international cultures and customs, and company policies and procedures based on strategic business objectives.
  • Collaborates with a multi-disciplined team (e.g., facilities, marketing/communications, creative services, security and transportation, etc.) to implement strategic site inititaives and event plans.
  • Demonstrates and promotes team understanding of company policies and procedures, branding compliance, business courtesies, protocol and U.S. and foreign government guidelines.  Ensures the team applies extensive knowledge of customer’s customs and cultures in all aspects of visits and events.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the work group on matters related to process improvement.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams
  • 10+ years of experience in preparing and delivering key briefings to senior leadership and throughout the organization
  • 10+ years of experience planning, organizing, facilitating and/or executing large scale meetings and events
  • 10+ years of experience managing multiple projects concurrently
  • 10+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners
  • Ability to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Current and active U.S. Security Clearance.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range:

$139,500 - $170,500
