Boeing Information Technology & Data Analytics (IT&DA) is currently seeking a Senior Security Design Specialist to join the team in Arlington, VA; Auburn, WA; Berkeley, MO; Chicago, IL; Colorado Springs, CO; El Segundo, CA; Englewood, CO; Hazelwood, MO; Houston, TX; Huntington Beach, CA; Huntsville, AL; Jacksonville, FL; Kennedy Space Center, FL; Kent, WA; Long Beach, CA; Mesa, AZ; Miami, FL; North Charleston, SC; Ogden, UT; Oklahoma City, OK; Plano, TX; Portland, OR; Renton, WA; Ridley Park, PA; Saint Charles, MO; San Antonio, TX; Seal Beach, CA; or Tukwila, WA.   

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data security, excellent technical skills, a solid track record of successfully managing complex security projects with direct regulatory compliance impacts, and a proven ability to lead and manage teams in a fast-paced environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of Microsoft Purview: Lead the deployment and configuration of Microsoft Purview Information Protection solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing security infrastructure and workflows

  • Data Classification and Tagging: Develop and implement data classification frameworks and tagging methodologies using Microsoft Purview to ensure sensitive data is accurately identified and protected throughout its lifecycle

  • Management of Protection Strategies: Design and manage data protection strategies utilizing Microsoft Purview, including data loss prevention (DLP), encryption, and access controls, to safeguard sensitive information from unauthorized access and breaches

  • Endpoint Client Management: Oversee the deployment and management of Microsoft Purview endpoint clients, ensuring they are effectively utilized to protect data across various platforms and devices

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, Legal, and Compliance, to ensure data protection protocols are effective and aligned with business objectives

  • Monitoring and Analysis: Utilize Microsoft Purview's monitoring capabilities to track data access and usage, detecting anomalies and potential security incidents related to data classification and protection

  • Incident Management: Collaborate with internal teams to investigate security incidents involving classified data, manage data breaches, and resolve access control issues effectively

  • Reporting & Documentation: Produce detailed reports and analytics on data classification, tagging, and protection efforts using Microsoft Purview and maintain accurate documentation of security configurations, findings, and actions

  • Compliance & Auditing: Ensure that the organization remains compliant with regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI DSS by auditing data access and usage related to classified information

  • Training & Awareness: Assist with educating employees on best practices for data classification, tagging, and protection using Microsoft Purview, as well as how to minimize potential risks associated with data sharing and access

This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in data classification, tagging, and protection within an enterprise environment using Microsoft Purview

  • 3+ years of experience working with privacy or data protection laws and regulations

  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing solutions (e.g. client/server, storage, network, cloud, information security concepts, etc.)

  • 3+ years of experience with participating Incident Response and/or Vulnerability Management activities, including planning, assessment, and mitigation

  • 3+ years of experience with data access management, user permissions, and audit logging

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active Secret Security Clearance

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

  • Experience with enterprise implementation and similar Data Discovery/Data Classification/Data Protection Tools (ex: BigID, Varonis, Microsoft Purview, etc.) 

  • Professional certifications in data protection or related fields (e.g., CDMP, CIPP)

  • Microsoft Purview-related certifications in data protection (SC-400 or SC-401(beta): Administering Information Security in Microsoft 365)

  • Experience with data classification tools and cloud data management solutions.

  • Experience with data analytics and business intelligence tools

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $117,300 – $181,700
