Job Description:

Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) is looking for resources for Boeing Test and Evaluation team is currently looking for Experienced Test & Evaluation Lab Technician- Electrical/Electronic Equipment for Hardware Integration Lab. This position will be in the Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center, Bengaluru, India and reports to the Manager, - Design Engineering, and Boeing Test & Evaluation India. A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. We need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.

Boeing Test and Evaluation team is currently looking for Experienced Test & Evaluation Lab Technician - Electrical/Electronic Equipment to join their team in Bengaluru, KA. To support multiprogram Like Test Bench Build, Harness Build and System integration.

Hardware Integration Lab Technician are owners of the Lab Test Bench Build, Wire Harness build and System integration and ensure compliance to design configuration, build plan, process requirements and Test Program schedule. Supports and executes an integrated build plan consisting of work instructions for assembly/fabrication, kitting, tooling, inspection requirements, and other outputs to endure fabrication & System Integration meets design, test, and program requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for execution of Hardware integration Lab for the BIETC Hardware Integration Lab in accordance with AS9100 & IPC/WHMA-A-620 and Aerospace quality standards for Requirements and Acceptance for Cable/Wire Harness Assemblies.
  • End-to-end development of STE/ATE that includes analyzing the test requirements, understanding various measurement and test instruments involved in the test, analyze their characteristics, identify the communication requirements, support hardware-software integration, system integration, system test, build and deployment
  • Leads and implements manufacturing plans for Test Bench and Sub assembly Build
  • Supports planning of resources, defining process, and guiding HIL team for Test Bench & Sub assembly Build.
  • Create and/or review test plans, test procedures, and test reports
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment.
  • Experience on military and Aerospace connector selection,
  • Good knowledge on various types of measurement and test equipment is a must (dimensional, electrical, electronic, thermal, etc)
  • Experience performing formal Qualification testing (Examples: DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461)
  • Develops and implements manufacturing and tooling methodologies for the Electrical Wire Harness Integration
  • Utilizes Knowledge of Wire Harness manufacturing process vis-à-vis wire cutting, routing, splicing, crimping, soldering, assembling final harness, testing, inspecting
  • Maintains manufacturing BOMs, Tools, Formboards for Wire Harness.
  • Maintains Lab operations documentations like Process Control Records and Work Instructions.
  • Instrument Handling Like Multimeter, Oscilloscope, Waveform Generator.
  • Provides Training and supervises lab team to Test Validate the Sub assembly and Functional Check & validation.
  • Validates and ensures Test bench readiness and Functional validation
  • Interfaces with suppliers and internal stakeholders for material procurement and to build Test Bench and Sub assembly.
  • Receives Material and plans storage and inventory management.
  • Responsible for marking, labeling and packing and dispatch of completed wire bundles.
  • Ensures Tooling and performs Tool Maintenance.
  • Implements lean principles and technologies
  • Ensures manufacturing process matches defined requirements and process specifications
  • Supports/Conducts to plan product testing, test support requirements and acquire equipment, test materials, fixtures, articles and vehicles
  • Supports Manufacturing Engineer in providing Process capability, producibility information for inclusion in project plans and helps document producibility best practices
  • Supports in analyzes design/build concepts to evaluate producible design/build definitions
  • Resolves / Troubleshoots and resolves laboratory and test-related problems to ensure build performance, cost and schedule adherence.
  • Participates in the implementation of Lean principles and technologies.
  • This position may also require to support electrical/mechanical design of wide range of flight test installations including data system racks, data acquisition system equipment, cameras, sensors, access provisions and wire.
  • Candidate shall coordinate with Program Engineering (Project, Design, Quality, etc) and provide periodic update on project progress, quality metrics, project summaries, and other related documents

This position is expected to be 100% at BIETC Campus.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualification :

  • Diploma or higher is required as a BASIC QUALIFICATION, preferably in Production/ Electrical / Mechanical / Aerospace / Aviation/ Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university with 9-12 years of experience in aerospace domain.
  • Candidate should be IPC620 Certified.
  • Hands on experience of Electrical tools Mentor Graphics/Visio, PLM/ENOVIA and CAD tools like CATIA, CREO, UG NX or SolidWorks would be advantageous
  • Design: Awareness of different materials used in aerospace industry and related finishes & coating processes.
  • Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint
  • Language: Fluency in reading, writing & speaking in English

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience ) :

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified
  • Hands on knowledge of Cable/Wire Preparation, Measuring Cable Assemblies and Wires, Testing Cable Assemblies, Crimp Terminations, Insulation Displacement Connections, Soldered Terminations, Connectorization, Molding/Potting, Splicing, Marking and Labeling, Wire Bundle Securing Shielding, Cable/Wire Harness Protective Coverings, Coaxial and Twin axial Cable Assemblies, Packing.
  • Mechanical Sub assembly Build and installation
  • Knowledge of Engineering Fundamentals for electrical design of simple aerospace components/ electrical wire harnesses with awareness on aerospace materials, manufacturing processes and heat treatments etc.
  • Experience working with global experts in engineering & manufacturing in cross culture performance and hands on coordination experience working in factory environment
  • Propose solutions to routine technical problems of Manufacturing process planning
  • Capable of working as per program needs and BT&E processes
  • Reads, understands, and interprets engineering drawings and specifications
  • Analyze design/build concepts to evaluate producible design/build definitions
  • Resolve technical problems of significant impact to performance, cost or schedule
  • Be a self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision, positive attitude and highest ethics
  • Pro-actively seek information and direction to successfully complete the statement of work
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with very strong teaming skills. Must be willing to work flexible hours (early or late as needed) to interface with Boeing personnel around the world
  • Develop and maintain relationships / partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners to deploy collaborative plans and execute on projects
  • Awareness of AS9100 D quality management system
  • Fabricates electrical components and systems that include but are not limited to: wire harnesses, chassis, rack mounted equipment, flight test instrumentation trays, troubleshooting and repairs
  • Performs mechanical assemblies and fabrications including but not limited to: use of hand tools, drill press, and band saws
  • Fabricates and repairs circuit cards including but not limited to: surface mount, through hole component fabrication, applying and removing conformal coats, circuit card troubleshooting, modifications and repairs
  • Performs lab compliance tasks such as tool control, FOD and ESD
  • Good analytical approach for problem solving, driving the innovations with speed and agility.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams within Boeing and external partners
  • Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity and ability to work with team members across different cultures and time-zones
  • Demonstrate strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Be fluent in written and spoken English and have high degree of proficiency with MS Office tools

Typical Education & Experience:

Diploma or higher is required as a BASIC QUALIFICATION, preferably in Production/ Electrical / Mechanical / Aerospace / Aviation/ Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university with 9-12 years of experience in aerospace domain.
