Position Overview:

Boeing India System Engineering team is looking for Lead Systems Engineer – Process Assurance and Certification Engineer and this position will be based out of Bengaluru, India. This systems engineering (SE) position involves authoring and updating certification process documents and templates for system certification plans, ensuring compliance with SAE ARP guidelines and applicable FAA regulations. Responsibilities include developing internal and external resources to support certification activities, such as project-specific certification plans. The candidate will oversee System Lifecycle Development, participate in reviews of test plans and supplier documentation, and coordinate with sub-component teams to ensure compatibility in certification processes.

Additionally, the position requires preparing technical presentations for change boards, fostering compliance and safety mindset across cross-functional teams, and managing certification risks for products and projects. The successful candidate will also contribute to writing system engineering plans and participate in Development Assurance Reviews and Process Assurance Reviews to demonstrate compliance effectively.

A successful candidate will understand the importance of collaboration as these positions will focus on working directly with the Manager to deliver Engineering statements of work to meet the organizational goals.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Authoring/updating certification process documents, templates for system certification plans and other associated certification documents.
  • Develop and compile internal and external resources to support systems certification activities with items like project specific certification plans, System Safety Assessments, etc. as needed per SAE ARP 4754/4761.
  • Ensure compliance to SAE ARP 4754/4761 and all applicable FAA regulations (FARs) are ensured in the process documents.
  • Experience in writing accomplishment summaries, certification summaries to show compliance to applicable regulations.
  • Provide oversight of System Lifecycle Development – Requirement Engineering, Configuration management, V&V etc.
  • Participate in reviews of Test plans, procedures, supplier documentation to ensure compliance to certification regulations and processes. Participate in Test witnessing and conformity reviews.
  • Coordinate with subcomponent teams and suppliers to ensure system certification processes are compatible.
  • Prepare and present technical presentations, decision points,process changes to formal change boards and technical councils
  • Work with cross functional teams to foster process adherence, compliance and safety mindset.
  • Contribute towriting system engineering and development plans, system certification documents, process documents, work instructions.
  • Work with Compliance finders/Engineering Unit Members (E-UM) to incorporate feedback on the systems process documents.
  • Coordinate/participate in Development Assurance Reviews (DARs) and Process Assurance Reviews (PARs). Be part of project team to show compliance.
  • Manage certification risks for products / projects. Perform Requirements Management in DOORS
  • Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of tools, risk, issues, opportunity management processes.
  • Lead a local team of Process Assurance Engineers, provide daily direction of tasks and assignments.
  • Provide team activity report to the Engineering Manager.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher is required.
  • This position requires 8+ years of demonstrated experience on Process and Certification methodologies.
  • This position requires 12 to 14 years of Systems Engineering experience with the exposure to system certification process and activities.
  • Experience with SAE ARP 4754 Systems Development Process, ARP 4761 Safety Assessment.
  • Knowledge of FAA ACs, ADs, CFRs PART 21, 23, 25, 27, 29.
  • Understanding of DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160
  • Exposure on Systems architecture, design of Avionics LRU components is preferred.
  • Working experience in Level A System/ Equipment/AEH.
  • Basic understanding of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) architecture is preferred.
  • Extensive experience with systems engineering and system development processes.
  • Demonstrate strict adherence to processes and compliance requirements.
  • Experience and understanding of configuration status accounting processes.
  • Experience with Development Assurance Reviews (DARs) and Process Assurance Reviews (PARs)/ Compliance Finding Audits.
  • Guiding and mentoring teams on compliance topics.
  • Guide Leadership for handling certification topics.
  • Demonstrate strong problem resolution and process management skills and stakeholder management.
  • Take part in organizational initiatives.
  • Represent team and demonstrate ownership of the statement of work in review meetings.
  • Awareness of Agile framework preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal communication with engineers, management, and non-engineering support staff.
  • Ability to work in a virtual team environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Exposure to SAE ARP 4761 for Safety Assessment
  • INCOSE certification on Systems Engineering is an added advantage.

Typical Education & Experience:

Engineering degree and typically 13+ years' related work experience, a Master's degree and 12+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position does offer relocation based on candidate eligibility within INDIA.
