The Boeing Company is currently hiring for a Mid-Level Multi Skill Engineering Manager in Berkeley, MO.

This management position provides oversight and leadership to a multi-discipline team for a Phantom Works proprietary program.

This position manages a multi-skilled team of Subsystem, Structural Design and Strength Engineers, guiding their day-to-day activities in modifying and testing state-of-the-art technologies for the Phantom Work Test and Prototyping team.  Familiarization with MIL-STD-516 airworthiness and its implementation is required. Excellent communication skills with the team, management and the customer are required to convey the complexities of the technologies under test and evaluation. 

In addition to the day-to-day activities of the engineers, this position manages the manpower that provides part time support for loads, dynamics, thermal and E3 support to the program.

The ability to interface with shop personnel and the test team in supporting the generation of work instruction and test plans is a must. On-site support of these teams will be required 10% of the time.

This position reports to the Chief Engineer for Phantom Work Fixed Wing Test and Prototyping.  Proficiency in the Earned Value Management system and the ability to estimate manpower and write technical sections of proposals are required in this position.  Root Cause Corrective Action execution along with Risks, Issues, and Opportunity tracking to completion are major elements of this position. 

The understanding and generation of technical publications for the using community, assuring their accuracy and compliance with our safety-first requirement is a must.  Assuring first time quality and safety through the generation, implementation and adherence to program policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage the activities of employees performing platform structural and subsystems design engineering, performance modeling, and analysis using 3D modeling and analysis tools, with a strong emphasis on post-delivery support.

  • A significant portion of the effort is focused on design and analysis of structures, fluid and mechanical systems, as well as electrical power generation and distribution systems.

  • Execute design efforts, modeling and engineering release of detail parts and assemblies that define the physical structure and instantiation of subsystems and transport elements.

  • Execute Boeing Earned Value Management and Management Best Practice policies and procedures as a Cost Account Manager and set operational goals.

  • Acquire resources for projects and processes, provide technical management of suppliers and lead process improvements, develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports, provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes and manages, develop and motivate employees.

  • Support, lead, and delegate the project team's responsibilities and tasks through all stages of the project life cycle.

  • Make customers and their needs a primary focus of one's actions.

  • Communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.

  • Knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology, avionics).

  • Knowledge of the interaction between disciplines and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-engineering processes (e.g., Operations, Logistics, Business).

Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 10+ years’ work experience in the aerospace industry

  • 5+ years’ experience in working with classified technologies and programs

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Special Access Program environment

  • 5+ years’ work experience in a supervisory or leadership role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or business

  • Active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

  • 15+ years’ work experience in the aerospace industry

  • 10+ years’ experience in working with classified technologies and programs

  • 10+ years’ experience in a Special Access Program environment

  • 10+ years’ work experience in a supervisory or leadership role

Typical summary pay range: $155,550- $210,450
