Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior System Design Architect in Berkeley, MO  to join the F-22 Raptor Mission System Design Team with a focus on developing cutting edge engineering solutions to continue to advance the world’s premier air superiority fighter.

As the System Design Architect, you will be responsible for developing engineering solutions for the F-22 Raptor, including both enhancing existing field units with the addition of new capabilities as well as architecting completely new systems. In this role you will be joining a cross-functional team to progress our products through the development lifecycle. The day-today activities of this position will be a combination of traditional design engineering, collaborating with cross-functional peers, leading and mentoring others, presenting technical challenges and solutions to leadership, and Technical Supplier Management (TSM).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Effectively communicate with technical and non-technical personnel at all organization levels including suppliers and customers

  • Identify, coordinate and communicate requirements, functional threads and interfaces for incorporation into system architecture, modeling environment and system physical design

  • Oversee development of Systems Electronics/Device Modeling and integration with larger system(s)

  • Integrate technologies under development with larger system concept of operations and determine impacts to interfaces, integration techniques, manufacturability and integrated system testing

  • Identify, innovate and oversee development and maintenance of new tools and processes to support this work scope

  • Develop new innovative techniques to validate analytical models and performance budgets in addition to definition of experiments and test methodologies

  • Define functional architecture and modeling needs and coordinate efforts with functional architecture and modeling/simulation teams to meet end item deliverable test, verification & validation dates

This position is expected to be 100% on site. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

This position requires the ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.  F-22 Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 14+ years of working experience with a Bachelor’s OR 12+ years with a Master's OR 9+ years with a PhD

  • 5+ years of experience in system design, functional decomposition, requirements development, analysis, verification and validation

  • 1+ year of experience interfacing with U.S Government customers on requirements

  • 2+ years of experience leading analysis and translation of complex requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications

  • Experience in avionics, electrical, and/or a mission systems role

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering

  • Experience in working in a model-based system engineering environment

  • Experience with agile development methodologies

  • Experience with high performance parallel computing architectures

  • Education and/or experience in 1 or more of the following tools: Cameo, DOORS, SysML, DoDAF

  • Capable of traveling 10% of the time

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Summary pay range (Level 5): $143,650 - $194,350
