The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join the F/A-18 Project Engineering Team located in Berkeley, MO.

As a member of the team, you will be the single technical point of contact to the F/A-18 Customer and Boeing leadership for the Mission Computers Capability to ensure strategic execution of development roadmap. You can expect to maintain technical management of the project by preparing project plans and measuring progress. Also, it’s expected that daily communication and coordination with the customer is a part of the battle rhythm.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads Engineering Change activity from RFP (Request from Proposal) and proposal development, through execution and contract delivery / closeout including identifying and managing contractual interdependencies
  • Responsible to identify and manage strategy for critical decisions/milestones supporting broad development roadmap
  • Coordinates with technical leads, other program product teams, suppliers, and Boeing Global Services as appropriate to ensure proposal and project statement of work are executed on time
  • Identifies and maintains day-to-day oversight of cost, schedule, and performance metrics and reporting to leadership
  • Maintains working-level customer relationships on the effort
  • Manages and ensures deliverables are submitted on time
  • Plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program
  • Defines plans for risk mitigation and opportunity
  • Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned
  • Provides technical, business and integration for the development and execution of projector team plan

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment.

  • An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of experience collaborating and coordinating across hardware, software, integration and test, quality, and production engineering disciplines
  • 5+ years of experience in project leadership or program management
  • 5+ years of experience communicating with internal and external customers
  • Level 4: 9+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelors degree OR 7+ years of work-related experience with a Masters degree OR 4+ years work related experience with a PhD
  • Level 5: 14+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelors degree OR 7+ years of work-related experience with a Masters degree OR 9+ years with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Product / project lifecycle management experience
  • Earned Value Management experience
  • Experience working on Avionics systems
  • Experience developing and/or maintaining customer-focused metrics and reporting
  • Experience with F-15, F/A-18, or other fighter aircraft
  • Strong Engineering excellence, focus on safety, project management, leadership, and communication skills
  • Active US Security Clearance

Typical Education/Experience:

Level 4: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Level 5: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range:

Level 4: $119,850 - $162,150

Level 5: $147,050 - $198,950
