Boeing Defence Australia is delivering some of the nation's most important programs for Australian Defence. As part of the Battlespace Communications System (BCS) Team, you will build, lead and support teams that design and produce next generation Military Communications Systems and contribute to the continued evolution of those capabilities to the Australian Defence Forces. The Opportunity

The BCS (Battlefield Communications System) is a next generation networking solution that combines custom and off-the-shelf technology for superior C4 capabilities for ADF personnel. Its modular design ensures rapid deployment and customization for various missions, and is the centerpiece for multiple communications programs.

We're seeking a senior engineering leader, to drive the vision, customer engagement, development integration and testing of the deployable communications hardware and software that comprise the common and unique product lines of BCS.

We want a dynamic leader who champions diversity, transparency, and effective communication to support the BCS program, while striving for technical excellence. Engineering program execution experience and talent to lead the development, delivery, and sustainment of BCS products and services is crucial.

Resonsibilities

  • Work with internal and customer stakeholders, to lead the vision, roadmap development, integration and testing, of the products that BCS enterprise
  • Lead architecture evolution of the Mission System and Support System across all BCS programs
  • Perform engineering activities as needed by the BCS chief engineer, including technical design reviews, and engineer review and approvals.
  • Support the harmonization of BCS product baselines by tracking and managing both common and unique components
  • Work with the Joint Systems Engineering Manager to balance priorities across the BCS program as well as the business unit and the engineering function to deliver the ‘best for Boeing'.
  • Support the growth of the BCS program by highlighting opportunities and risks
  • Work with BCS campaigns to ensure that proposals stays aligned with BCS system fundamentals, and offers competitive responses
  • Support a diverse and inclusive engineering work environment, with the clear expectation to model Boeing Seek, Speak and Listen behaviors.

Experience/Qualifications

Essential:

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline, Information Technology related fields or equivalent industry experience.
  • Excellent communicator who can engage with a diverse team.
  • Experience leading the successful execution of large or complex engineering development projects.
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.

Desirable:

  • Experience on BCS projects and campaigns.
  • Engineering or technical degree meeting the chartered requirements of Engineers Australia.

This is a senior leadership role and while there some flexibility in how to structure your working arrangement (work from home vs at the office), the expectation is the role is based in our Brisbane office and/or Wacol production facility where the majority of the BCS Program team is based.

The role will require periodic travel to key Boeing and customer sites.
