The opportunity

Join Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) as the Principal Integrated Product Support System Lead, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping Integrated Product Support solutions for future proposals. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining support system solutions for BDA programs. This role offers you the chance to gain valuable exposure and actively contribute to BDA's new business initiatives.

Responsibilities

The Principal Integrated Product Support System Lead will provide subject matter expertise focusing on system design, harmonisation, and mentorship, this position not only enhances current operations but also prepares the next generation of professionals to meet future challenges in the field.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead Support System Architecture: Oversee the design of the Support System across all Business Development programs, ensuring that it meets the diverse needs of each project while maintaining a cohesive approach.
  • Harmonisation Across Customers: Ensure that the Support System is standardised across all Business Development campaigns. This involves leveraging the commonalities in products to create efficiencies, ultimately reducing costs and improving service delivery.
  • Selection of Support System Tools: Identify and select appropriate tools that enhance the efficiency of work processes while ensuring that customer requirements are met. This is critical for maintaining high standards of service and support.
  • Collaboration with Chief Engineer and IPTs: Work closely with the Business Development Chief Engineer and Integrated Product Teams to align Mission System Design with an efficient support system. This collaboration is essential for integrating technical and support considerations from the outset.
  • Development of Support System Specifications: Lead the creation and structuring of specifications for the Support System, ensuring clarity and comprehensiveness in documentation.
  • Liaison with Business Development Campaigns: Engage with various campaigns to ensure that proposals are aligned with the fundamentals of the Integrated Product support systems, enhancing the competitiveness of responses.
  • Establishing Support Requirements: Define and establish enterprise support requirements, including costs, technical objectives, and implementation plans. This involves a detailed breakdown of work and scheduling to ensure timely delivery.
  • Managing Integrated Product Support (IPS) Strategies: Develop and manage effective product support strategies that encompass all 12 elements of IPS, ensuring that customer material and system readiness objectives are met while minimising costs.
  • Reviewing Program and Engineering Changes: Assess the impacts of program and engineering change proposals on product support, ensuring that any changes are effectively integrated into the support system.
  • Mentoring and Training: Provide mentorship and training to team members within the Integrated Product Support team, focusing on quality checks and process improvements. This is vital for fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Desirable Experience/Qualifications

To be successful you will have:

  • Minimum of 10 years' demonstrated experience leading / managing in complex integrated logistic support (ILS) or support system environments
  • Experience working with integrated/multi skilled teams to respond to tenders / writing proposals for Defence programs- Highly desirable.
  • An Engineering degree (Mechanical or Electrical) or Technical Trades qualifications would be highly desirable but not essential
  • Formal qualifications or significant demonstrated experience in leading and delivering successful logistics/support systems analysis for major acquisition programs - ASDEFCON Strategic Material Acquisition (Support System).
  • Experience working with Integrated Logistics Support standards for example, MIL-STD-1388, DEF (AUST) 5691/5692, GEIA- STD-0007C Logistics Product Data is desirable
  • Eligibility for an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Defence Security Clearance
  • Current Australian Citizenship
