To be successful in the role you should demonstratetechnical leadership and coordination qualities within sustainment and continuous improvement of an ICT environment.

Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Principal System Administrator to oversee the implementation, enhancement, security, and maintenance of computer systems. This role requires strong technical expertise to lead a team effectively. Key responsibilities include developing and guiding changes through design reviews, testing and implementation, developing detailed architectures for multiple lab environments and collaborating with the Engineering Team Manager to deliver within project constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading changes through key design reviews including development approval and other technical design reviews.
  • Working with the Engineering Team Manager to ensure the technical scope is planned, scheduled and delivered within the quality, schedule and budgetary constraints of the project
  • Working with Engineering Leadership team and customer focal to support detailed architectures, analysis, and planning to develop virtual lab development environment.
  • Mentoring of less experienced technicians and engineers including teaching, guiding and coaching.
  • Lead a team responsible for supporting multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux) and hardware platforms (Servers, endpoints, Storage).
  • Lead projects based on administration of multiple environments containing, virtual servers, with a focus on Hyper-V hosts and Virtual Machine Manager, as well as manage Active Directory, system monitoring, endpoint protection, firewalls, switches.
  • Coordinate development of supporting documentation and design artifacts based on project requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with business stakeholders and project team members to gather and clarify requirements.

Experience/Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge base in some or all of the following areas:

  • Minimum of 12 years' experience administrating complex IT environments.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and coordination qualities to deliver technical solutions.
  • Experience in the estimating, planning, managing and reporting progress of technical work scope.
  • Experience with change management processes progressing change management artefacts
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to engage, influence and negotiate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and customers.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies, particularly Hyper-V and Virtual Machine Manager.
  • Solid skills in storage and networking, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Familiarity with the Information Security Manual.
