The opportunity

We are seeking a Quality Systems Specialistto join Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) and support the world class airborne surveillance, communications and maritime patrol system; the P-8A Poseidon. You will be joining a challenging and dynamic environment, supporting an aircraft platform that defends Australia's interests. The P-8 program underscores Australia's commitment to a modern Defence force, ensuring that the BDA and the RAAF can work seamlessly with allies and respond swiftly to emerging threats, all while keeping our waters safe and secure

This role provides an exciting opportunity to support tactical and strategic quality imperatives as they relate to the program and the broader Quality function. In this role you will be required to foster and enable a continuous improvement culture in support of providing the Australian Defence Force with world leading systems.

This is for a 12 month Fix term Contract opportunity with the potential for an extension to full time/permanent. This role located onsite at RAAF Base Edinburgh, South Australia.

As a Quality Systems Specialist within BDA, you will:

  • Coordinating and collaborating with Program and Functional leadership to ensure the ongoing effectiveness and efficiency of the Quality Management System
  • Working with the Part 145 Responsible Manager and Quality Manager to ensure ongoing compliance requirements with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR)
  • Perform delegated Part 145 Quality Manager duties as required to support program operations
  • Perform work and reviews within the Part 21J Design Organisation on behalf the Chief of Independent Systems Monitoring (CISM)
  • Plan and conduct internal audits with the dual purpose of assessing system compliance to applicable regulations, standards and contract requirements as well as identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Develop, implement and maintain quality directives, policies, plans, processes and program applicable work instructions
  • Track, monitor, measure and report the health and performance of the local quality management system and support, as necessary, remediation response to any lagging and negative leading indicators
  • Lead and/or coordinate investigations and associated root cause analysis activities in order to identify corrective and preventative actions and assure first time quality imperatives can continue to be met
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to deliver a quality capability that provides site-based support


About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A minimum of technical and/or further education qualifications in either Quality Management, Engineering, Aviation Maintenance or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of the ISO 9001, AS 9110 standards and Part 145 Regulations.
  • Completed ISO 9001 auditor training by a recognised training organisation or a willingness to complete on commencement in the role.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a similar quality role and/or within a similar project environment.
  • Strong problem solving ability, self-motivation and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
