About the Program

The Australian Army is in the process of procuring 29 AH-64E aircraft and their ground support elements. Boeing Defence Australia (BDA), through the Land 4503 Phase 1 (ARH Replacement) Program, is providing a broad range of personnel and expertise to support the acquisition and entry into service of this new capability.

About the Capability

The AH-64E Apache is a proven, mature, and off-the-shelf capability. This aircraft is the contemporary configuration of the Apache featuring a network-centric, fully-integrated weapon system specifically built to dominate in highly contested and complex battle spaces. The AH-64E Apache provides a crewed-uncrewed teaming capability, enabling networked integration with Australian Defence Force and Coalition uncrewed aerial systems.

The opportunity

Reporting to the BDA AH-64 Program Manager for day to day tasking, you will be accountable for the recruitment, retention and career development of the Platform Engineering Services team. You will be supported in this role by the BDA Engineering Skill-Stream Leaders and the Sustainment Operations Engineering Manager.

As a Multi-skilled Engineering Manager within the BDA Sustainment Operations business you will work with the ADF customer to co-lead and oversee the delivery of Platform Engineering Services for the AH-64 platform. This will include the development and retention of the required Platform Engineering Services workforce to meet AH-64 Program requirements; and selected internally funded activities required to grow the BDA Sustainment Operations business.

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary leaders and teams to achieve effective aircraft fleet deliver and sustainment outcomes.
  • Support the Project Manager to ensure the engineering and technical support scope is delivered on time and within budget, with interdependency on quality outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Work Management Team to plan work, track critical progress, and understand broad enterprise priorities and in particular how these relate to the Platform Services Engineering Team.
  • Ensure effective deployment of engineering activities and resources.
  • Liaise with BDA Engineering skill-stream leaders to ensure the engineering skills needed for the Program are being provided; and to maintain and grow the knowledge, skills and experience of the AH-64 Platform Services Engineering team.
  • Track performance metrics and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Undertake team member performance management and development.

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Minimum of 5 years' sustainment organisational experience working in a technical industry.
  • Demonstrable understanding of core sustainment principles e.g., change management, baseline management, prioritisation, cost, schedule and asset management.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to engage, influence and cooperate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A ‘servant leader' mindset, with a genuine desire to work with people, collaborate with your peers and foster team personnel development.

Preferred but not essential:

  • Qualifications in Business or Engineering Management
  • Leadership experience in a technical field.
  • Experience with technical management of aerospace and / or Defence projects.
  • Experience in an ASDEFCON contract environment.
  • Experience working under the Defence Aviation Safety Requirements (DASRs) framework
