Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Numerical Control Router Operator to join our Fabrication team in Everett and Renton, Washington.

Position Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate numerically controlled routers to cut, drill, and shape various parts from metal sheets or other materials.

  • Review production orders, work orders, drawings, and setup documents to prepare for job setup and ensure all necessary materials and tools are available.

  • Determine the need for changing router cutting and drilling tools, selecting the proper tools, speeds, and feeds for each operation.

  • Move materials, parts, and fixtures using overhead cranes, electric stackers, and pallet jacks as required.

  • Check machine setup and parts completed by previous operators to ensure safe working conditions and job progress.

  • Retrieve and download Numerical Control (NC) programs to the machine controller using computing equipment and verify that the machine is in good condition.

  • Select and check cutters and drills per NC documents, ensuring they are sharp, in good condition, and properly adjusted for length.

  • Set machine coordinates, index points, and cutter offsets according to NC documents using the controller keyboard.

  • Run NC programs to operate various machines, making cuts and drilling holes in materials such as aluminum, graphite composites, and fiberglass.

  • Monitor machine settings, adjusting as necessary to correct machining problems, and perform minor editing of programs as required.

  • Listen for unusual vibrations or sounds during operation, and visually check the cutter/drill path and clearance to ensure smooth operation.

  • Check work after each operation to ensure parts meet specifications and are free from defects, documenting completion as required.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials, such as coolants and solvents, in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) while using personal protective equipment.

  • Maintain personal and tool certifications, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

  • Communicate with the Team Leader, supervisor, or co-workers for assistance or to report any issues that arise during operations.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be physically able to lift 35 or more pounds during a shift

  • 1+ years of experience performing precision measurements of electrical, dimensional or optical parameters

  • 1+ years of experience using hand tools and/ or hand-held power tools

  • 1+ years experience operating a CNC machine i.e. CNC rivet machine, CNC milling machine

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range:

$26.00 - $51.39
