​The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Engineering Manager to support our Boeing Research & Technology / BR&T Software Engineering located in Huntsville, AL, Charleston, SC, Jacksonville, FL or Virginia Beach, VA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Research and Technology (BR&T) business organization.

The candidate will lead program/organizational integration of multiple research and technology software-aligned products/initiatives (and manage diverse sub-teams of software engineers who support them), to ensure alignment to business & technical strategies, goals, and objectives for new & existing programs across all the Business Units, including:
•    Manufacturing and Materials Technologies
•    Factory Automation and Analytics
•    Integrated Vehicle Systems and Technologies
•    Mission Systems
•    Predictive Maintenance and automation

Position Responsibilities: 
•    Leads a team performing software engineering and technical activities supporting Defense and Commercial platforms
•    Develops and executes project and process plans across multiple program functions
•    Implement software processes and Ensuring program documentation accurately reflects software engineering processes
•    Responsible for software technical baseline, build plans and software program artifacts
•    Coordinate activities across BR&T business partners
•    Partner with supporting organizations and project leadership on project execution and software staffing needs
•    Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, program partners, and direct reports
•    Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with peers, business partners, customers, and other stakeholders including supplier engagement and management
•    Acquires resources for projects and processes and provides oversight and approval of technical approaches in alignment with organizational strategy
•    Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and motivation to combine the team’s energy and expertise to achieve a common objective
•    Understands the dynamics of effective teamwork in order to attain higher levels of performance
•    Demonstrates the ability to work as a member of a team

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

•    Ability to obtain a Secret clearance post-start
•    5+ years of experience managing and/or leading a team either formally or informally, with the ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members 
•    5+ years of experience with embedded software development
•    5+ years of experience with DevSecOps
•    3+ years of experience leading projects and/or individuals in software development lifecycle tasks 
•    3+ years of experience with modern software development methodologies
•    3+ years of experience with software development in Agile methodology
•    Experience with Cross Cloud communication and architecture

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

•    Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
•    Experience with DevSecOps / Continuous Integration (CI) using GitLab the ecosystem
•    Experience at successfully managing within a complex IPT to produce results within budget, o schedule, and to performance requirements
•    Experience at successfully working with a community of diverse software product owners & systems engineering to integrate software into complex systems
•    Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) within an Agile construct
•    Experience with multiple SW architectures and paradigms, from embedded on-metal development, to microservices and cloud infrastructure (Containerization, Orchestration, IPCs, etc)


Travel:  Approximately 25%, depending on business needs.  Travel between AL and SC to manage teams will be necessary as needed.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range: $154,700 - $209,300
