Boeing Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Propulsion and Pump Fluid Loop Design Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) to join us as part of our Boeing Integrated Design Engineering team at the in El Segundo, CA. You will have an opportunity to provide design support in our satellite applications as well as support other exciting engineering projects spanning across various business units!

This position would entail operating as a Pumped Fluid Loop (PFL) design engineer for one or more development subsystems or components. Responsibilities would include: detailed design engineering activities for multiple fluid systems. This position offers exciting opportunities to support a variety of programs and technologies in a dynamic work environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Interpretation of top-level requirements and design practices

  • Development and maintenance of subsystem layouts

  • CAD model ownership

  • Manufacturing process qualification and control

  • Engineering/Drawing ownership

  • Interface with production engineering and production planning

  • Shop Aid design and implementation (3-D printed parts, machine shop components)

  • Tooling support

  • Subsystem component mechanical analysis (lines, fittings, supports)

  • Alignment support

  • Design for Manufacturing and Test (DFMAT)

  • Human factors considerations

  • Functional Schematic ownership

  • Support detailed build schedule development and maintenance

  • Internal Design Review (IDR) presentation development (in coordination with other areas)

  • Preliminary stress analysis

  • Preliminary flow analysis

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 3+ years of experience in fluidic engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • A successfully completed Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government.

  • Experience with cryogenic plumbing system is preferred.

  • Experience with CREO or NX CAD systems

  • Experience with cryogenic applications (pumps, valves, analysis) strongly desired. 

  • Related experience with liquid propulsion, pumped fluid thermal control systems and associated liquid and gas plumbing also beneficial

Typical Education/Experience:

Mid-Level

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range for Mid-Level: $102,000 - $138,000

Summary pay range for Senior: $124,100 - $167,900
