Boeing, Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Manager, Advanced Missions and Programs in El Segundo, California to help our customers invent the future in space systems. 

This position reports directly to the Director, Advanced Government Space Systems, Business Development in support of Boeing Space Mission Systems and Space, Intelligence, and Weapon Systems. The position’s primary focus is leading campaign pursuits associated with the  Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Satellite Communications (SATCOM)  mission areas as well as supporting ground segments.

The key to success in this role is a comprehensive understanding of our customers’ missions; the design, development, and operation of space and ground systems; the ability to drive strategy in support of large, complex campaigns; and development of relationships with United States Government (USG) stakeholders and other elements of our potential customer base.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of day-to-day Advance Missions and Programs operations, including identifying and driving the strategy for capture of new space and ground business; providing direction and oversight to campaigns; and managing enabling investments and resources in support of our competitive posture all with minimal guidance
  • Providing direction and supporting development of subordinate Capture Team Leads
  • Overseeing the preparation, coordination, and delivery of solicitation responses (RFPs, RFIs, BAAs, OTAs, RFPs), including completing required internal reviews and obtaining required submission approvals
  • Developing and maintaining customer relationships with organizations including the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Space Development Agency (SDA), U.S. Space Force, and other USG space-related agencies, organizations, and laboratories
  • Understanding the domestic and international competitive landscape, including knowledge of competitors' products and services to develop a detailed understanding of specific competitor activities and their impact on market positioning

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 5+ years of experience with fielding ISR capabilities for the USG
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams in organizing, executing, and gaining management approvals in support of competitive proposal development
  • 5+ years of experience developing and delivering presentations or proposals to management and customers
  • 3+ years of experience within project leadership including developing, implementing, and executing program plans
  • 3+ years of experience in leading and partnering with cross-functional teams
  • 3+ years of experience with USG requirements development, Department of Defense PPBE (Planning, Programming, Budget and Execution) and/or acquisition processes

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Masters of Business Administration
  • Experience managing government contracts or programs
  • Experience in consultative sales and success associated with sophisticated technical products and services on major U.S. defense acquisition programs (i.e., ACAT 1, 2)
  • Experience working on or supporting a proposal team and/or negotiating contracts with external customers
  • 10+ years of experience in the aerospace industry

Summary pay range: $216,900 – $265,100
