Position Overview:

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Space Mission Systems (SMS) Division, seeks a System Architect/Model Based Systems Engineer [MBSE] to join the Space Systems Engineering team in El Segundo, California. Our team works with Commercial, Government, and Proprietary Customers in the development and deployment of next-generation technologies and systems in Space. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide high impact, creative solutions to complex technical problems, the ability to work as part of a large team, and the ability to provide critical support and independent review of the work of teammates.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with a multi-discipline team to decompose system requirements into functional and logical architectures and allocate logical architecture to physical implementation.

  • Capture system requirements traceability within the system architecture model

  • Apply model-based system engineering (MBSE) methodology to develop system architectural views using Systems Modeling Language (SysML).

  • Analyze MBSE models to derive system ConOps through use of mission threads and use case scenario analyses.

  • Utilize the system architecture model in support of systems engineering milestone reviews such as SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, etc.

  • Ensure that system models are compliant to a standard outlined by the Customer approved style guide and the internal systems architecture/MBSE development plan.

  • Review and translate Customer reference architecture model to internal architecture model.

  • Provide input to continuously improve MBSE training, processes, and tools.

  • Mentor systems engineers in MBSE processes and tools.

  • Foster strong customer relationships.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ year of experience with systems engineering processes and tools.

  • 5+ years of experience creating MBSE systems models in Cameo, Magic Systems of Systems Architect (MSOSA), or similar software.

  • Experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).

  • Previous experience implementing model-based approaches on engineering projects/programs, ensuring seamless integration of delivered models within the receiving architecture and digital engineering platform.

  • Experience with model-derived ConOps requirements development, interface control documentation, technical specification review, architecture development.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • OMG-Certified Systems Modeling Language™ (SysML®) Professional (OCSMP).

  • 5+ years of experience within the aerospace, defense, or similar high-tech industry.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence diverse audiences on digital concepts and technologies, from business leaders to technologists.

  • Ability to provide technical and programmatic recommendations on the development, integration, and use of digital engineering and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) concepts and structures.

  • Experience leading technical teams or projects.

  • Currently holds a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range - Senior, Level 4: $128,350 - $173,650

Summary Pay Range - Lead, Level 5: $157,250 - $212,750

Summary Pay Range - Principal, Level 6: $186,150 - $251,850
