Join our Global Real Estate and Facilities Engineering & Technology (E&T) team as a Mid-Level Facilities Mechanical HVAC Engineer in Mesa, Arizona.

You will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with customer requirements, building codes, and regulations. Your expertise in design/construction principles, practices, and materials will guarantee the safety and stability of our infrastructure systems.

This position has the opportunity to provide valuable recommendations for capital improvements. Your insights and expertise will shape the future of our facilities and infrastructure.

You will develop technical design statements of work, review final designs, and provide cost estimates for various projects. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will ensure that our buildings, equipment installations, utility systems, and grounds meet the highest standards.

Candidates shall:

  • Have design experience in the building mechanical HVAC engineering field

  • Possess knowledge of mechanical upgrades for HVAC systems

  • Provide technical expertise/advice on current system capacities and capabilities, as well as the impact of planned modifications and development of back-up operational plans for system outages/failures

  • Recommend system upgrades and replacements, considering factors such as lifecycle, cost, design, savings, and efficiencies

  • Take responsibility for design, operation, and maintenance of on-site HVAC systems such as chillers, cooling towers, boilers, air handling units, compressors, and associated ductwork, piping, and controls

  • Work independently with minimal supervision

Position Responsibilities:

  • Optimize safety, performance and dependability of systems through rigorous analysis, design, testing, and planning

  • Impact efficiency and profitability of production efforts by improving system reliability, reducing downtime & maintenance, extending asset life, and overall improving quality

  • Develop moderately complex conceptual designs, cost estimates and provide maintenance support for architectural phases of buildings & equipment installations

  • Coordinate activities of multiple engineering disciplines, outside consultants and government agencies in developing technical designs, final designs, and cost estimates ensuring safety and stability

  • Develop moderately complex conceptual analysis to determine the cause of asset failures and reduction in asset capacity by using reliability tools and methods (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, root cause failure methodology, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.)

  • Ensure accuracy of drawing archives/libraries; identify errors and document construction changes to comply with regulatory requirements, facility standards, and record retention

  • Provide technical support to construction projects as needed (vendor selection, contractor proposal review, interface with regulatory agencies, etc.)

  • Prepare contingency plans for interruptions/equipment failures

  • Develop and implement conservation projects and coordinate across teams

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or greater in an engineering field (mechanical preferred)

  • 3+ years of experience with HVAC and mechanical control systems

  • 3+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications

  • Experience in mechanical systems design and analysis (such as dual duct systems, VAV systems, clean room design and ISO standards, primary/secondary systems, primary variable systems, compressed air systems, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, gaseous nitrogen & liquid nitrogen systems)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience working with reliability engineering processes, methodologies, and tools related to asset failure & capacity (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis)

  • 3+ years of experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), or similar problem/analysis/resolution, processes to engineering development and manufacturing/production efforts

  • Experience with AutoCAD (or Revit)

  • Experience in lean processes and initiatives

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master + 3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $96,000 - $129,000
