The Boeing Materials, Processes & Technology team is looking for a Space Launch Systems (SLS) Thermal Protection Systems and Coatings Equipment Engineer to join our team in New Orleans, Louisiana.

As a member of our team, the engineer will serve as a lead on production assets utilized in the cleaning and primer application cells for large metallic cryogenic tanks used on SLS. The successful candidate will support daily operations of the cells and interact with Production, Engineering and Integrated Product Team (IPT) teams and provide knowledge and expertise necessary for successful operations and maintenance of these assets.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Subject matter expert for clean, test, and primer processing cells for cryogenic propulsion tanks for SLS

  • Coordinate day to day operations of cells between production, Engineering, and IPT teams

  • Experienced in internal cleaning and processing of large cryogenic propulsion tanks

  • Experienced in Primer processing and applications on cryogenic propulsion tanks

  • Create, review and approval of SOPs for Primer, cleaning, and test operations

  • Knowledgeable of tooling, calibration procedures, and preventative maintenance of cell equipment

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate across multiple disciplines with internal and external customers

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. Bachelors degree and 9+ years' experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. (Bachelor’s & 9+ years’ experience or Master’s & 7+ years - Level 4)

  • 5+ years experience with processing cryogenic tank production hardware

  • 5+ years with precision cleanliness requirements and best practices to maintain cleanliness during production

  • 5+ years NASA program experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • SLS Program experience

  • Experience with development of verification and validation of the application of cryogenic primers on aluminum structure

Summary Pay Range: $110,500 - $149,500
