The Boeing Company is looking for Senior Production Engineering Managers to join the Boeing 787 Production Engineering leadership team based out of North Charleston, South Carolina.  These roles will lead teams in Final Assembly, as well as Composite Fabrication and Aft Body Assembly and Installation production systems.  As we focus on improving our Boeing Production Systems, a focus on safety, eliminating waste and ensuring first time quality is crucial.

Successful candidates will have prior demonstrated success in developing and maintaining productive relationships with customers, stakeholders, and peers, as well as strong problem-solving skills, a willingness to take initiative, and the ability to partner across multiple engineering functions, business segments, and geographic areas. They will also have prior experience working in high-paced critical-flow production environments and a proven track-record of being adaptable to changing demands.

All candidates will be considered based on the strength of their Production Engineering background, breadth and depth of experiences, and educational background. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements integrated departmental plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved.
  • Forecasts, obtains and oversees personnel, facilities, services, equipment and tools to meet project and departmental requirements.
  • Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities of first-level managers and others within their department.
  • Provides on-going developmental feedback. Promotes employee recognition and builds a departmental culture that improves employee satisfaction and retains a skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Provides input on the development of departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives and related metrics to ensure alignment with Company vision/strategy.
  • Builds strategic multi-functional and cross-organizational partnerships to resolve problems, improve processes or achieve goals.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, peers, partners and team members.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement by communicating/deploying enterprise best practices and employee engagement to improve cost, quality, delivery, employee job satisfaction and customer satisfaction.
  • Leads employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Production Engineering.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 3 + years of experience leading a cross-functional team.
  • 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners.
  • 3+ years of experience communicating to employees, customers, peers and all levels of leadership.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 4+ years of experience driving and implementing continuous improvement in a production facing role.
  • 4+ years of experience building a safety and quality first culture.
  • 4+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams in support of production operations.
  • Experience with production build plan ownership, including parts/plans/people
  • Experience with BPS (Boeing Production System) principles and system health measures.
  • Experience with building an organizational talent pipeline.

Pay Range Summary:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

L Level Manager: $155,550 - $210,450
