Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to join the team in Ridley Park, PA.

The Philadelphia Industrial Engineers team with other Production Engineering disciplines and are engaged in diverse, challenging and exciting roles.  This Industrial Engineering role will be performed in a production environment along with other Production Engineers that are focused on supporting and improving production processes for the H-47 Chinook.  Our Industrial Engineers are integral to leading the development and implementation of process enhancements aimed at improving production safety, first time quality, capability and efficiency.

Boeing is a leading manufacturer of commercial airplanes and defense, space and security systems. The Boeing Vertical Lift Philadelphia facility (Ridley Park, PA) is situated along the Delaware River approximately 7 miles southwest of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 2 miles from the Philadelphia (PHL) international airport and minutes from both New Jersey and Delaware.  This facility is home to the H-47 Chinook Helicopter and the V-22 Osprey Tiltrotor.  These aircraft are designed, manufactured and tested at the Philadelphia site and are delivered to both US military and international customers.  There are approximately 4,500 people employed at this Boeing site.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads and applies advanced industrial engineering concepts, approaches and techniques to product, process and services to meet program requirements

  • Integrates across functions and business units to implement strategically planning

  • Consults on the development of complex factory/equipment layouts, capacity plans, accident prevention measures, sequencing of operations and work flows. Recommends new techniques and technological developments for integration into the production process and service operations

  • Designs, maintains, and optimizes the production system by integrating design, supply base, facilities, equipment, and personnel

  • Establishes standards for work flow design and analysis

  • Leads the development of models, databases and spreadsheets to analyze data and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to leader and customers

  • Leads research, design, development, improvement, and implementation of Lean processes and tools to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, for large scale systems integration and asset utilization. Evaluates product assembly instructions and standardizes assembly practices

  • Reviews plans and programs for facility/factory modifications and revisions to operating methods

  • Leads operations planning, includes work statement analysis, budgeting and forecasts, capacity and constraint analysis and production change, to ensure technical goals and objectives are met. Leads execution planning by using project management, planning and scheduling and shop load practices. Monitors production, supply chain logistics, performance visibility and recovery planning support

  • Ensures compliance with established industry safety, design standards and ergonomic guidelines

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):  

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • (Level 4 - Bachelor’s degree & 9+ years’ experience or Master’s & 7+ years) OR (Level 5 - Bachelor’s degree & 14+ years’ experience or Master’s & 12+ years )

  • Minimum of 5 to 9 years of Production Engineering (Industrial Engineering) experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with LEAN manufacturing methodologies

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with leadership and communication skills across all levels of an organization

  • Extensive experience with MS Office tool set: Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):  Provide any preferred skills.

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing / production environment

  • Root Cause Analysis experience

  • Ability to collaborate with both an engineering work force and production mechanics in a factory environment

  • Experience communicating with and presenting to Senior Operations and Production Engineering leaders

  • Experience with Microsoft Access or SQL databases

  • Strong analytical/technical, problem solving and communication skills

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range (Level 4): $109,650 - $148,350  

Summary pay range (Level 5): $136,850 - $185,150
