Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Missiles & Weapons Systems (MWS) is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager to lead the Cruise Missile Systems’ Mechanical and Structural Design team in Saint Charles, MO.  This is an exciting and rare opportunity to work on the world’s premier weapons systems!

BDS Engineering delivers decisive mission advantages through cutting-edge capabilities and supports design, manufacturing, and services for a broad portfolio of military aircraft and rotorcraft, autonomous systems, weapons and missile systems, space and launch systems, and satellites. The engineering team is focused on delivering products to all of our customers with the safety, quality, integrity, and technical excellence that they count on each day.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads a team of engineers in the design, development, and implementation of mechanical and structural systems.
  • Acts as Air Vehicle Manager responsible for Cruise Missile Systems Development Programs: Harpoon, SLAM-ER and Harpoon Coastal Defense Systems.
  • Provides project management, technical oversight, and collaboration with other departments to ensure that engineering projects meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures, and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives.
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • Previous management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in one or more areas of aircraft structures such as design, strength, fatigue.

  • Master of Science in an engineering discipline.

  • Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance.
  • Can up-level existing team by hiring high performance talent, growing leaders and helping underperforming members.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $151,300 - $204,700
