Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is looking for broad range of levels to include Senior and LeadEngineering Technical Specialists to join our Executive Fleet team in San Antonio, TX. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the production and maintenance processes by providing support in multiple areas.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides strategic guidance in the development and documentation of advanced installation practices and standards for aircraft structures and wiring systems, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations and safety protocols while integrating innovative methodologies applicable to various aircraft build areas.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in wiring installation techniques and engineering practices, offering strategic consultancy to engineering teams and management on best practices and innovative solutions for complex challenges across multiple build areas.
  • Strategically formulates and implements solutions for unique installation challenges encountered during aircraft modifications, establishing precedents that can be adapted to enhance future projects and overall build processes.
  • Initiates and leads strategic projects aimed at optimizing Operations processes, while identifying innovative opportunities across the aircraft build spectrum, ensuring alignment with long-term performance and efficiency goals.
  • Makes strategic decisions regarding installation methods and their integration with other systems, influencing project budgets, timelines, and regulatory compliance while effectively minimizing risks associated with installation errors.
  • Conducts strategic research and evaluation of emerging technologies and industry advancements in wiring installation and manufacturing processes, identifying opportunities to integrate innovative solutions into the aircraft modification workflow to enhance efficiency, safety, and product quality.
  • Develops and documents engineering standards for wiring installation and related processes, ensuring adherence and providing strategic training and support to engineering teams on the application of these standards during aircraft modifications and builds.
  • Monitors and analyzes performance metrics related to installation efficiency and compliance, while assessing innovation initiatives across build areas, coordinating with cross-functional teams to address organizational requirements and enhance overall process effectiveness.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret clearance Post Start is required.

Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.

This position requires the ability to pass an assessment during the training cycle.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 9 or more years of demonstrated experience managing complex engineering projects, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver results within established timelines and budgets.
  • 9 or more years of in-depth knowledge of aviation regulations and standards (e.g., FAA, EASA) related to installations within aircraft build/modifications, with a proven ability to ensure compliance throughout the engineering process.
  • 9 or more years researching and implementing new technologies and innovative practices in manufacturing processes, with a focus on enhancing efficiency and quality in aerospace production.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement practices, showcasing an ability to optimize processes and reduce waste in the manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with Executive Fleet heavy aircraft maintenance/modification operations, Engineering definition and specifications relating to major systems and wring installations
  • Associate Technical Fellow or higher with a focus related to manufacturing

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range: Senior $102,000 - 138,000

Summary Pay Range: Lead $119,850 - 162,150
