The Boeing Global Services (BGS) C-17 Avionics & Flight Controls (AVFC) team is seeking a mid-career (Level 3) C-17 Project Integration Engineer to perform Integration activities in support of current and future development programs.  

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the following Boeing locations:

San Antonio, TX

Warner Robins, GA

Oklahoma City, OK

This position reports to the Avionics Capability Delivery Manager for the AVFC organization.  A key attribute of this position is the ability to accomplish assigned engineering tasks under minimal instruction, and articulate both progress and help needed across geographically diverse teams.  Areas of execution could include avionics development, laboratories, verification & validation, and technical publications.  A key attribute of a successful candidate is the ability to drive successful outcomes through understanding the responsibilities, tasks and products of various engineering departments/disciplines, the interaction between departments/disciplines, and how their products/processes affect one another.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will possess a wide range of project management, engineering, organizational, and communication skills.  This includes the ability to build a successful multi-disciplined team to plan/organize/execute in alignment with AVFC organization’s project schedules.  It also includes the skill to interact with internal and external customers at all levels, actively seeking information to understand customers' circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs.  Developing an understanding of the products and processes to visualize challenges as or before they arise, and the maturity to develop mitigation plans, is essential to the position.  The selected candidate will coordinate complex project schedules requiring interface with internal/external organizations.  The selected candidate will have a demonstrated ability to identify and resolve project related issues, providing solutions and/or recommendations to drive successful project completions.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • All support system elements are defined and scheduled for execution down to the part # / book #.

  • All support system elements are complete and correct in support of FCB (plus flight test and Kit proof as applicable) on time.

  • All interim work products required for downstream work are identified, complete, accurate and provided on time with updates managed, controlled and communicated in a timely fashion.

  • Maintains and provides accurate and up to date status on progress, issues and resolutions on support system elements.

  • Plans, conducts, coordinates Support Systems Readiness Reviews as a part of the overall integration effort.

  • All of Engineering is represented positively and effectively with internal organizations and the customer.

  • Fosters a team culture representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers.

  • Leads project integration to ensure all groups execute the work statement to a common schedule.

  • Works under minimum direction.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering.

  • Experience in Project Engineering / Project Integration.

  • 7+ years’ experience with avionics

  • Project Scheduling tool experience (e.g. MS Project).

  • Excellent written and verbal skills.

  • Ability to work seamlessly with team members at different locations.

  • Experience/understanding in development and delivery of logistics support elements.

  • Organizational/teambuilding skills.

  • Ability to perform project planning/execution.

  • Aptitude to remain politely persistent while achieving results

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Avionics Project Integration or Project Engineering experience.

  • Avionics software development experience.

  • Familiarity with USAF Technical Orders.

  • Familiarity with USAF Support Equipment.

Summary pay range for Level 3:        89,250 - 129,950
