Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for an innovative, people friendly, and highly motivated Design Integration Senior Manager to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG).  ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is an extremely fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which recently landed from its seventh and most ambitious flight yet.  This position can be in Seal Beach, CA or the Kennedy Space Center, FL.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Direct management of employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of structure, payload and subsystem integration design

  • Leads development and maintenance of common processes, tools and standards

  • Builds a culture of technical excellence and first time quality, and uses metrics to set and meet goals

  • Drives continuous improvement culture and leads process improvements and Lean+ projects

  • Partners closely with site ESG Program Management and other leaders to ensure executability of all new proposals

  • Drives performance to plan for ESG engineering products as Control Account Manager (CAM) and supports the ESG Program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)

  • Supports ESG New Business team in identifying and developing new program opportunities.

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes

  • Manages, develops and motivates employees

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed locations.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • 10 or more years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering role

  • 5 years of experience in production systems such as Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Teamcenter Product Data Management (PDM), and Unigraphics (UG)

  • Willing and able to obtain a Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI or agree to enter a Continuous Evaluation program)

This is a 1st shift position.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $155,500 - $225,400
