Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) is seeking Aviation Maintenance Technician Inspectors to join our team in Seattle, WA. In this role you will perform Production and Test installations, maintenance, preventative maintenance, alterations and quality assurance on aircraft structure, systems and sub-systems, including electrical and avionics on standard or experimental certificated aircraft.

If you are being hired or transferring into a position where you will perform a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety-sensitive function, you are first required to undergo Pre-Employment drug testing for the presence of marijuana, cocaine, opiates, phencyclidine (PCP), and amphetamines, or a metabolite of those drugs. FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certification/License or FAA Repairman Certificate is required. Please note your certificate number on your resume.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, inspect, test, repair, service aircraft and engine systems to prepare aircraft for flight

  • Perform Quality functions such as: Customer/FAA Coordination, Configuration Change Verification, Conformity Inspections, Airworthiness Inspections (including Pre-flight and Post-flights), Corrective Action and Investigations

  • Initiate and document any nonconforming materials, hardware, software, tools, parts, assemblies, or portions thereof, according to specifications, processes, and procedures

  • Perform Aviation Maintenance Technician Inspection tasks in order to obtain and maintain knowledge, skills and required certifications

  • Perform audit/surveillance of all manufacturing and Quality Assurance processes, according to specifications, processes, and procedures

  • Use technical specifications, sketches, manuals, drawings, engineering instructions and FAA forms and publications to accomplish work assignment

  • Maintain Company and FAA required records and inspection forms

  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment

  • Plan and organize the sequence of your own work package in such a way as to promote safe, efficient operation and meet predetermined schedules in a timely manner

  • Operate any and all types of information systems required to perform assigned tasks; including but not limited to Company WEB based systems and Microsoft Office products

  • Perform to the requirements of airworthiness directives, service bulletins, service letters and other approved/accepted data

  • Apply applicable mathematical calculations to setup and use precision measuring tools, to measure gaps, heights, angles, hole diameters and depths

  • Make production aids to facilitate work assignment

  • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work

  • Exchange information with suppliers, customers or other company representatives to explain or demonstrate operations, tests or difficulties

  • Work with other highly skilled employees in close proximity in a team like environment

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.The selected candidate will need to be willing and able to work out of any Puget Sound location and/or Moses Lake, as needed.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of aircraft maintenance experience on complex jet powered aircraft with military, airline or certificated repair station background

  • Ability to pass and complete fall protection training and work with heights of seventy feet or more and not exceed weight restrictions

  • FAA Airframe and Power Plant License or an FAA Repairman’s certificate. Please note your certificate number on your resume

  • Able to stand for extended period of time to successfully perform the job requirements

  • Able to perform physical activities such as climbing, bending, kneeling and lifting

  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8 hour shift

  • Willing to work variable shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime

  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally

  • Experience in functional testing


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of Flight Line experience working on large active aircraft

  • Experience navigating Boeing and vendor drawings

  • 2+ years of Quality Inspector experience          

  • Experience in tag writing

Union:

This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinists (IAM-751) Collective Bargaining agreement.

Shift:

This role is primarily second shift; however, there will be additional shift requirements (variable shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime) to support program objectives.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary Pay Range: $37.00/hour - $43.00/hour to start, with maximum potential to earn $56.97/hour at top pay
