The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Engineer - Secure Network &Protocols (Experienced / Senior) to join the Space Launch System - Exploration Upper Stage - Stage Controller Cyber Security team located in Titusville, Florida.  This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.  

This position supports computer labs at multiple sites for engineering software development, integration and testing of the Stage Controller software for the new Exploration Upper Stage component (EUS) of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket on the NASA Artemis program.  The stage controller will be used to control the rocket during a ground test of the SLS rocket motors.  This position requires background checks for approval for access to NASA information and sites.  

Position Responsibilities
•    Partners with stakeholders to identify and review product security requirements.  
•    Conducts performance analysis, testing, monitoring and software assessments of networking protocol software to assess, identify and address risks, weaknesses and vulnerabilities.  
•    Provides input on secure network and protocols throughout the end-to-end lifecycle development of software products.  
•    Researches and implements current and emerging networking protocols, software security trends, vulnerabilities, and technologies.  

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.  


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 


•    5 + years of experience in conducting Information Assurance risk and vulnerability assessments
•    Experience with LINUX and Windows commands, developing scripts using shell programing with Bash or PowerShell, and additional scripting languages like Python and Java Script
•    NASA Access: This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):


•    Experience with the SLS, EUS-SC project or other NASA project(s)
•    Relevant Certifications (ex. CompTIA ITF+, CompTIA Tech+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+, GIAC Security Essentials, Systems Security Certified Practitioner, Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control, Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
•    Experience executing National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity risk management requirements and practices.
•    Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.  
•    Knowledge of the practical application of network technologies.  Ability to solve difficult network problems like Quality of Service, multi-level security, network protocol conversion, network management problems and application optimization.  
•    Knowledge of programming languages used for networking problems.  Knowledge of computing equipment and multiple operating systems.  Knowledge of communications, networking protocols.  Knowledge of software development and testing tools capability and usage.  Ability to integrate hardware and software components into a functional system.  

Typical Education/Experience: 
Experienced (Level 3)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.  g.  Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.  g.  PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).  In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
Senior (Level 4)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.  g.  Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.  g.  PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).  In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Travel: Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  


Summary Pay Range / Experienced: $107,100 - $144,900
Summary Pay Range / Senior: $127,500 - $172,500
