The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Engineer - Secure Network & Protocols to join the Space Launch System - Exploration Upper Stage - Stage Controller Network and Operating Systems Dev team located in Titusville, Florida.  This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.

This position supports computer labs at multiple sites for engineering software development, integration and testing of the Stage Controller software for the new Exploration Upper Stage component (EUS) of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket on the NASA Artemis program.  The stage controller will be used to control the rocket during a live-fire ground test of the SLS rocket motors.  The Operating System team configures and security hardens the networking equipment, appliances and operating systems on multiple physical and virtual networked servers and workstations and integrates stage controller software.  The team works closely with the Cyber Security team to mitigate risks identified during system scans.  We also support the Software Test team in formal qualification testing of software requirements.  This position requires background checks for approval for access to NASA information and sites. 

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Mid-Level and Senior Level Software Engineers.

Position Responsibilities

  • Partners with stakeholders to identify and review product security requirements.
  • Conducts performance analysis, testing, monitoring and software assessments of networking protocol software to assess, identify and address risks, weaknesses and vulnerabilities.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Windows and Linux Operating Systems configuration and administration
  • 3+ years of experience in Python, Bash or other scripting languages
  • 3+ years of experience in Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Artifactory, Ansible

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 9 or more year’s related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of programming languages used for networking problems. 
  • Knowledge of computing equipment and multiple operating systems. 
  • Knowledge of communications, networking protocols.
  • Knowledge of software development and testing tools capability and usage. 
  • Ability to integrate hardware and software components into a functional system.
  • Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle.

Travel

Occasional travel may be required (less than 10%)

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Technical Assessment

Summary Pay Range

Salary Range for Mid-Level - $107,100 - $144,900

Salary Range for Senior - $127,500 - $172,500
