The opportunity

We are seeking a talented, motivated and professional individual with experience in an Aviation Part 145 Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Organisation.

You will be joining the world class Apache Attack Helicopter Sustainment Program as aTechnical Manager on site, within the vanguard of Apache Operations in Australia supporting the Australian Army AH-64E Aircraft Fleet.

With a role of this importance to our business and the customer the successful applicant will be site based at RAAF Base Townsville, engaging with Defence and Industry to achieve the desired outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading a multidisciplinary team of employees and Subcontractors delivering technical and logistics Services to the 1 Aviation Regiment (1Avn) Operational Unit at RAAF Base Townsville and Army Aviation Training Centre (AAvnTC)
  • Liaising and relationship management with Defence Stakeholders and External Agencies
  • Ensuring continued competence of all personnel engaged in maintenance by facilitating and conducting/overseeing the Commonwealth's training program as required
  • Ensuring compliance of BDA personnel to BDA mandatory training requirements

What You'll Do:

  • Lead with Excellence: Provide leadership and management to our Maintenance Team, driving exceptional performance and results.
  • Collaborate for Success: Work closely with Boeing and RSAF leadership to integrate efforts and deliver outstanding outcomes.
  • Oversee Major Operations: Manage the deployment of Boeing personnel during customer deployments and exercises.
  • Optimize Maintenance Schedules: Ensuring fleet and maintenance staggers provide daily flying program needs and long-term sustainable fleet health
  • Uphold Standards: Ensure adherence to Boeing policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Foster Team Development: Use your exceptional soft skills to lead and manage a team of over 50 technical personnel, promoting safety, harmony, and professional growth.
  • Drive Ethical Practices: Ensure that team objectives are met while upholding our ethical values and compliance with legislative, DASR, ISO, and Boeing standards.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualifications: Formal qualifications in either Aviation Maintenance, Engineering, Project Management or Technical Discipline.
  • Skills: -
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate between stakeholders of differing cultural backgrounds and experience
    • Business acumen to ensure prioritisation and pragmatic deconfliction of stakeholder competing needs
    • Emotional intelligence to intuitively identify and action stakeholders needs when conducting business in a high tempo environment
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience in managing and leading teams of technical personnel, preferably in an aviation maintenance environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to balance customer and business priorities to meet required outcomes.
    • Demonstrated ability to operate in a high paced operational environment.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with ISO standards related to Quality Management Systems, Safety Management Systems, and Environmental Management Systems.

  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens and meet Defence Security Requirements to Negative Vetting 1 level

Security Clearance

You will be required to successfully undergo the vetting process for a government security clearance (BASELINE) sponsored by BDA. Therefore, you must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information and must have the ability to verify your background for your whole life i.e. birth to present time.
