Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking an Supplier Quality Engineer to support the Supplier Quality-Electronics team in the California Region!

This position is located in Valencia, CA and requires on-site support of multiple suppliers. This is an autonomous position, therefore, the candidate must have the ability to work from home and on-site at supplier location.

Position Responsibilities:  

  • Represents Quality function on team activities to integrate contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation
  • Provides Quality interpretation of requirements. Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for small programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements
  • Conducts capability assessments and process validations to support supplier selection activities
  • Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs
  • Performs analysis, tests and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness
  • Provides material review dispositions for non-conformances
  • Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions
  • Recommends corrective actions to address non-conformances
  • Performs benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved. Works under general direction
  • Understand and prioritize supplier issues and baseline performance utilizing key supplier and / or Boeing metrics
  • Performs Product Verification at Boeing suppliers
  • Researches contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements for applicability to specific program processes and documentation.
  • Apply expertise in conducting rapid plant assessments and capability reviews across holistic production and quality dimensions
  • Determine supplier capability gaps, key constraints and causes
  • Identify issues and opportunities within supplier production and quality models Assists in defining key levers and initiatives for improvement, focused on addressing performance issues
  • Contributes in establishing key actions and initiatives; synthesize into a consolidated execution plan(s) for improvement
  • Compiles performance reports and other statistical data to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
  • Assists or may lead on major supplier corrective actions
  • Works with Boeing resources, supplier resources or 3rd party recovery teams as require

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 3+ years of experience working in Quality, Supplier Quality or Supplier Management
  • Experience with EN/AS9100 Quality Management System
  • 3+ years of experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and failure analysis
  • 3+ years of Quality Inspection experience, including FAI (First Article Inspection)
  • 3+ years of experience in quality inspection and/or auditing
  • Currently possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle
  • Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Aerospace Industry experience
  • Experience working with the Boeing Problem Solving Model
  • Experience using Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or similar planning software
  • Experience working in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment
  • Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard

Summary pay range: $94,350– $127,650
