Employing more than 1,800 people, Boeing Defence UK provides long-term support for more than 120 Boeing military rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircrafts in the UK. For example, the Chinook and Apache helicopters, and the Poseidon and C-17 airplanes. Our support ranges from mission critical Logistics Information Services, next generation in-flight digital tools, to aircraft and operational modelling and simulation methodology.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Test Lead to join our dynamic team in Digital Services and Analytics (DS&A) and drive our automation testing efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manual and automation testing using Selenium, proficient programming skills in Java, and experience with cloud technologies and DevOps practices. This role requires leadership capabilities to guide a team of testers and ensure the delivery of high-quality software products.

Primary Responsibilities

As part of your role, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the design, development, and execution of test plans, test cases, and test scenarios based on project requirements and design specifications
  • Developing and implementing test automation strategies and frameworks to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and DevOps engineers, to define testing requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Mentoring and training team members on automation testing best practices, tools, and methodologies.
  • Integrating automated testing into CI / CD pipelines using DevOps tools and practices.
  • Monitoring and reporting on testing progress, defect metrics, and overall quality assurance status.
  • Continuously evaluating and improving testing processes, tools, and methodologies to align with industry best practices.
  • Staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in automation testing, cloud computing, and DevOps.

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in software testing, with a focus on automation testing.
  • Strong expertise in Selenium and Java programming.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Proficiency in DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Solid understanding of testing frameworks and tools (e.g., TestNG, JUnit).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Experience

  • Proficiency in Test Automation tools like Selenium Webdriver, SmartBear Test complete, GitLab, IntelliJ, and TestNG Framework.
  • Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
  • Knowledge of API testing and tools (e.g., Postman, RestAssured).
  • Familiarity with Test Management tools like Microfocus ALM.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and practices.
