This is a Electrical/Avionics Engineering Manager (EASA Modifications) role.

Help us lead the future of commercial aircraft modification in Boeing EASA Modifications. We are looking for a strong technical leader with deep, evidential background in promoting safety, technical excellence, innovation and best practices within complex and matrixed organisations.

The successful candidate will lead a multi-disciplined, agile team and provide leadership across all EASA Modifications programmes. The new manger will help lead the Electrical/Avionics team responsible for design and certification of a range of modifications to all Boeing Commercial Aircraft models.

This role is based in BGS EASA Modifications site in Frimley, Surrey. 4 days onsite 1 day WFH per week. Travel to other sites is expected with occasional international travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist leading the execution of electrical/avionics engineering activities across BGS EASA Mods and ensures all products and services delivered on time and on budget.
  • Managing employees performing electrical/avionic design and certification activities, and implement and enforce engineering functional excellence in people, processes, tools and practices; driving productivity improvements and sharing best practices and lessons learnt.
  • Driving the development and execution of technical projects and process plans, implement policies and procedures and set effective operational goals while leading the execution of solution-based engineering through effective resource allocation and management.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees, including skill, career and talent development across cabin interior teams.
  • Possess an understanding of engineering job practices, certification techniques, industry standards, principles, theories and concepts. Be approved and work as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) within their specialist technical field of EASA Panel 5/6 Electrical/Avionics (desirable but not necessary).
  • Act as Boeing representative during customer meetings such as ITCM, PDR, CDR and FAI in support of active and up-coming projects. Provide additional on-site support to assist the customers’ during the embodiment phase of the project.
  • Day to day project management of engineering activities related to EASA design organisation projects, including time management and budget.
  • Provide regular feedback to the Senior Engineering Manager on the performance of the team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree from an accredited course of study, in aerospace or other safety critical engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience working in an EASA Design Organisation (DOA) or similar Aerospace fields.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive knowledge of both Type Design and Continuing Airworthiness for part 25 aircraft.
  • Extensive knowledge of the certification of part 25 aircraft and their design changes and modifications.
  • Proven record of delivering complex engineering change programmes with demonstrable project management skills.
  • A true people partner with established in managing experienced and junior engineers with a demonstrated track record of growing and building highly effective distributed teams. Comfortable in a dynamic, matrixed environment with ability to adapt to various technologies and situation.
  • Budget management experience with the ability to formulate budgets in line with the established       budget process
  • Experience of EASA design organisation projects along with strong time management skills
  • Professional manner in order to protect and enhance Company's reputation as a world leader in large aircraft manufacture and continued airworthiness
  • Willingness to take ownership of challenges within the business
  • Ability to drive change to working practices and procedures to improve and enhance the Company business model
