The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) is seeking a knowledgeable Mid-Level Production Engineering Manager to join our team at the Kennedy Space Center, FL

You’ll have the opportunity to join the team with one of the world’s newest and most advanced re-entry spacecraft – the X-37B, designed to operate in low-earth orbit, 150 to 500 miles above the Earth. The vehicle is the first since the Space Shuttle with the ability to return experiments to Earth for further inspection and analysis. This United States Air Force unmanned space vehicle explores reusable vehicle technologies that support long-term space objectives.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead production engineering support, ensuring execution of refurbishment, and production engineering work statements within program budgets and schedules.
  • Lead execution of START RIGHT production engineering including lean initiatives to meet affordability, process improvement, quality, safety, and productivity goals that include determining the root cause, shortfalls, and defining corrective actions.
  • Attract, develop, and retain the talent required to perform the production engineering work statement.
  • Establish relationships and closely collaborate with sister capabilities (Design Engineering, Quality, Operations, Systems Engineering) to ensure the program’s value stream runs efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate with SI&WS Production Engineering managers and the Production, Test and Launch Engineering Capability Core Team to exchange information and best practices, meet Capability deadlines, and participate in Capability Leadership meetings.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of aerospace production and maintenance experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master’s degree or higher in an Engineering field.
  • Minimum 3 years of front-line manager experience.
  • Experience working in high-yield Department of Defense production or refurbishment efforts.
  • Proactively and quickly makes sense of complex issues and data while responding effectively to complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Experience leading interdisciplinary initiatives to improve the value stream.
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels, internally and externally.
  • Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust.
  • Experience leading diverse teams in a collaborative, respectful, and innovative environment.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $155,550 - $210,450
