The Boeing Company is currently seeking an intern to support the Environmental Remediation organization in Tukwila, WA, during the spring/summer of 2025.

The successful candidate will assist with environmental investigations, monitoring, and cleanup of surface and subsurface media (soil, soil gas, surface water, stormwater, and groundwater) and operation and maintenance of treatment systems. The ideal candidate will be self-starting and excel in working both independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams including Finance; Site operations; Supplier Management; Government Operations; Environment Health and Safety (EHS); Legal; Communications; as well as external partners. The candidate must have effective written and verbal communications skills for internal and external audiences at all levels, and have the ability to establish relationships and build trust with key partners.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assists team to investigate soil/soil gas/water to identify potential contaminants and recommend remedial alternatives at various remediation sites.
  • Assists team to develop work plans and cost forecasts for all phases of a remediation project from investigation to operation and maintenance.  
  • Supports project status reviews with management.
  • Assists with reviews and interpreting environmental regulations relating to remediation work, and works collaboratively with regulatory agencies in determining remediation and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinates and assists with managing construction/remediation field activities, including contractor oversight and coordination with Boeing sites and programs.
  • Some local travel required depending on location of projects.

All of these positions are expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Some of these positions must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during the Summer 2025
  • Currently an enrolled student attending a college or university with an expected graduation date on or after August 2025
  • Experience conducting environmental field work or field management of environmental or construction projects is required

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, sustainability, environmental science)
  • Strong academic performance (GPA of 3.0 or above)
  • Previous internships or work experience and/or involvement with student or civic organizations
  • Passion for the aerospace industry and interest and enthusiasm for a career with Boeing 
  • The ability to telecommute
  • The ability to relocate and work onsite
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements and policy, such as Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), including reviewing and interpreting environmental regulations relating to remediation work
  • Preferred skills: Computing skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, emphasis on Excel), presentation skills, ability to quickly adapt to schedule changes, data analysis, project management, change management, communication, organization, regulatory knowledge, risk analysis

Summary pay range: Min: $42,000 – Max: $73,000
