Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Prime Power Electrician to support our manufacturing areas in and around Berkeley, MO

The Prime Power Electrician would be responsible for installation and maintenance of vital generators to reduce generator malfunctions and/or failures. The Prime Power Electrician would work outdoors working from an enclosure, indoors using a ladder to work above the ceiling, or clearing an area to work below the floor.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment and systems up to 35kV, including 5kV unit substations, switchgear, transformers, and associated components.
  • Conduct Protective Relay Testing to ensure reliability and compliance.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment to prevent downtime and ensure optimal operation.
  • Analyze and resolve field component issues within the electrical system efficiently and effectively.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of configuration and change management, ensuring all changes are documented and controlled.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management teams to plan and execute system upgrades and infrastructure improvements.
  • Act as a self-starter, taking initiative to identify and address electrical system needs.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, prioritizing safety, and delivering effective solutions.
  • Read and interpret one-line diagrams to support system troubleshooting and maintenance.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting electrical systems
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with electrical systems, including testing and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
  • Experience with electrical systems including National Electrical Code, basic relay logic and high voltage systems

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Vocational/Trade School degree or certification
  • Experience with protective relay testing

Additional Information:

  • The selected candidate must be able to work any shift, as assigned.
  • This is an hourly position governed by the IBEW Collective Bargaining agreement.
  • New Hires, as well as employees who transfer from non-union positions, may be required to attend some type of training upon their start. Once any required training has been completed all new employees will be considered on probation for a period of ninety (90) calendar days. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the probationary period

Summary starting pay range: $20.41/hr. - $38.32/hr.

Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
