Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Tooling & Emergent Operations Team has an exciting opportunity on their team in Berkeley, MO, for a Tooling Mechanic.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Program, setup, and machine parts on 3 and 5 axis mills, lathes, and live tooling lathes.
  • Develop, prepare and maintain all documentation related to the design, fabrication, and usage of various tooling items and their respective associated calibration equipment.
  • Utilize manual equipment to fabricate or modify various tooling components.
    (Examples: Bridgeport mill, manual lathe, surface grinder, drill press, etc.)
  • Other responsibilities may include: Equipment Maintenance & Calibration, CNC machining, Welding, Composites Modification, Tooling Inspection, Laser Tracking, and much more

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years’ of experience working in a machining environment.
  • High school graduate or GED

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 + years’ experience with CAD/CAM Software (MasterCAM)
  • 5+ years’ of experience in programming & operating CNC machinery (Examples: 3 and 5 axis mills, lathes, live tooling lathes)
  • Technical trade school certificate/degree (Or appropriate apprenticeship completion)
  • Experience with Okuma, Mazak, SNK, and Haas controllers
  • Experience using inspection tools, e.g., Micrometers, Calipers, Indicators, Height Gauges, Bore Gauges, CMMs, Laser Trackers, Portable Arms, Optical Comparators…Etc.
  • Experience with Aerospace parts fabrication

Additional Information

  • The selected candidate must be able to work any shift, as assigned.
  • This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement.
  • New Hires, as well as employees who transfer from non-union positions, may be required to attend some type of training upon their start. All new employees, rehires without seniority or transfers from outside of IAM 837 jurisdiction, shall be regarded as probationary during their first one hundred twenty (120) calendar days of employment.  Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of any required training and the probationary period.

Summary pay range: $23.65/hr. - $30.65/hr. to start
